We had the good fortune of connecting with Tariya Allicock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tariya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My mindset when starting my business was simple:
I wanted freedom. Freedom to choose my clients, create on my own terms, and build something that wasn’t tied to anyone else’s rules. I wasn’t interested in being bound to a company—I wanted ownership over my craft, my schedule, and my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a hairstylist, my work is my art. I specialize in techniques that make extensions look like they’re growing straight from the scalp—especially for clients with thinner or more fragile hair. While many stylists shy away from this challenge, I’ve mastered it.

What truly sets me apart is how much I care. I treat my clients like family. I care about their hair health, their confidence, and their experience—not just the final style.

It wasn’t easy getting here. Building a clientele and brand took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error. I overcame those challenges through prayer, mentorship, self-education, and staying consistent—even when things got tough.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned? Don’t rush, don’t blindly trust, and be strategic with your money. I’ve made mistakes, but they’ve taught me to move smarter.

I want the world to know that I do this with integrity. My brand is about excellence, hospitality, and innovation. I’m always learning, always leveling up, and always pushing the standard forward in natural-looking, healthy hair extensions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d be hopping on the first flight to Jamaica—no question. That’s where my roots are, where my soul feels at home, and where I know we’d have the best time ever.

We’d kick things off by settling into a cute villa near the beach, then head straight to the river to chill like locals. I’d take her to my favorite food spots for fresh seafood, jerk chicken, and street-side fried fish with festival. We’d sip rum punch, dance to live reggae, and vibe with the culture.

Excursions? Absolutely. We’d ride ATVs through the hills, visit Dunn’s River Falls, and go bamboo rafting. And in between all the fun, we’d relax oceanfront, soaking up the sun and just appreciating life.

Jamaica isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience. The energy, the music, the people, the food… it’s everything. That’s the kind of trip we’d never forget.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person who inspired my success the most? My mother.
She believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. She gave me the mindset, the drive, and the tough love I needed to keep going—even when things got hard. Her resilience became mine. Her strength taught me not to settle. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be the woman, the entrepreneur, or the creative force I am today.
