We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Bracken and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I come from an entrepreneurial family. Both my parents had their own businesses. Before I started my company, I worked for a high tech PR firm and was traveling a lot which was exciting, but exhausting. There were aspects of the business I loved and others I didn’t. It was important to me that I did something that was rewarding and meaningful.

One of the aspects I loved at this job was planning product launches and parties. It was fun creating the theme and bringing in the entertainment and other details. I realized this was my passion and that I wanted to create a brand that was classic and timeless but weaved in a modern flare.

I started slowly, doing a few events and building the foundation of my business. This started with a website and building my network. I knew I wanted to do all types of events and eventually move into the luxury space. Other than that, I didn’t really have a in-depth process when I started.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

The event is industry is made up of creatives who have an amazing talent for producing spectacular events. It’s not saving lives but what we do allows guests to forget about their day to day obligations and be in the moment. Even if it’s just for an hour they can relax and focus on the experiences happening around them.

I am most proud of the work we do with nonprofits. About 10 years ago, I made a strategic decision to work with nonprofits that were in the health sector or better the lives of children. It was important to me that I believed in the mission. As a result, there are 4 nonprofits that I have been working with now for 10 years. One of them being IMPACT Melanoma. This organization is particularly close to my heart as I was diagnosed with Melanoma in my late 20s and their work is very important to me.

As in any business, there have been many challenges along the way. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to really spend the time and figure out your brand and the type of client fits that brand so you can speak to them through your marketing. I didn’t do this when I first started and it made me more reactive than proactive. I also think entrepreneurs under estimate the value of self confidence. I am extremely humble but I’ve learned to accept praise and let others know I am good at my job. If you don’t do this, how will others know your successes and trust you can do the job? I may not be the loudest person in the room but I will let you know what I can do in a subtle and refined way.

My brand is built on timeless and classic elements and creating an unforgettable guest experience. Service is fundamental and must be at the forefront. We live in a modern world so I’ll always embrace trends that honor traditional elements. I want to look back at the events we do 15, 20 years from now and feel like they could have happened last week.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I would take them to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens because of the gorgeous grounds. I also love meeting with clients and friends at Pura Vida. I am into health and nutrition and they have so many great healthy options – the salmon avocado is my favorite.

We would have to visit the Brickell area, which is home to so many great restaurants and perfect for a night out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say most recently my success can be attributed to the guidance of the team at Ideaction Consulting. Working with them to refine my messaging and sales process. As a result, my business has grown significantly and I am working with more of my dream clients.
