We had the good fortune of connecting with Tati Kader and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tati, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
This is the question that I am most drawn to at this stage in my life. I think my work life balance has completely changed over time, and specially since becoming a mom. I think it is very easy to get so much done in every aspect before having kids, but as I had my first and then my second baby within the last three years – I have had to create a complete re-org to my days/weekly schedule. I think balance is the most important thing as an entrepreneur and business owner. I have to show up as the best version of myself for my clients, family, and community – this would be impossible without first showing up for myself first. I am a very flexible person, but my daily routine or practices are what sets up my day for success. With a two and a half year old and a 10 moth old baby in the house, my alone time within the house is very limited. I aim to wake up at least an hour to an hour and a half before everyone – this means 5:30-6:00 am every day. [This is specially hard when the baby has been up at night or we are sick which happens more than usual now with the older one in school. So this means sleeping in if that will benefit me more than waking up early (this is a way of showing up for myself as needed and being completely flexible).] I make myself a warm cup of water with half a squeezed lemon and write three full pages at least on my journal, I write down blessings, affirmations, and everything that I am grateful for. I then move on to meditating for 15 min, and depending on how much time I have left, I then do a workout. Once 6:30 or 7 am comes around I am running around with the kids making breakfast and the amazing chaos begins. I then drop of my older son at school, head back and begin my day. I aim to get at least 6 hours of work during the day, and then will add 1-4 hours at nights depending on what is going on. I finish my “work day” at 3pm and spend the next 4 hours with my kids. This – again – is flexible, but this is our quality time and I really think this is the balance I need as a mom. I think balance is truly unique to each person, and there is no “one size fits all” so if I were to give any advice in the topic it would be to get really clear on what you specifically want and what fulfills you because balance truly looks so different for everyone, but as long as you are showing up for yourself first then I think balance just sorts itself out.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Studio Neshama is a lifestyle brand focusing on wellness and interior design. What sets us apart from others is our focus on design and health with an overarching sense of wellbeing. As we continue to grow, we are able to support our clients in a multifaceted way so that they are not only living in a beautiful home, but also feeling good inside and out. I am mostly excited about delving more into the wellness world, and providing our clients with a true sense of wellbeing that comes not only from the healthy habits and workouts they can follow but also the daily practices unique to them that are helping them specifically feel good. I got to where I am today by continuing to evolve and work on myself, never giving up on the search for what I can give to the world that makes me light up. By working on myself I have been able to give my clients the absolute best of me. The process has definitely been challenging at times, but finding the right help and team to support me in the areas which do not come naturally to me has been the most important. I am a deeply creative and right brained person, so finding support in areas where I am lacking has been fundamental and truly I cannot stress that enough. I can’t wait to share all of the plans to come – the ever evolving wellness journey that will support our clients and followers profoundly in ways that they haven’t experienced before. I want the world to know us as the lifestyle and wellness brand of the next generation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would first start the mornings by taking them on an early walk on the Bal Harbour path, which is right by my house. This is my personal sanctuary. We would get a workout in by the beach there, or outside by the water. I would then take them to Under The Mango Tree in South Beach for a fresh açaí bowl or smoothie. We would eat lunch at Mandolin, I love their greek village salad. Then we would stop by the design district and see some of my favorite stores, both home and apparel. The trip wouldn’t be complete without dinner and drinks at the outdoor patio at Lido at the Surfclub in Surfside. Lastly, cannot miss a phenomenal sushi dinner at my go-to Makoto in Bal Harbour.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a perfect string of people, events, and moments that help create our success (at least mine) – but I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mentor and coach Myriam Chiffelle.
