We had the good fortune of connecting with Tavares Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tavares, how do you think about risk?
I think no one should ever be afraid of taking calculated risks. The person who doesn’t take risk only gets the leftovers of those that do.

I countlessly evolve and progress within my life/career because I am comfortable with taking risk. You’d be surprised by the amount of doors that form off of your will.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a creative my work is heavily influenced by my community. My camp and I produce an enchanting and unorthodox sound that can pull an interesting audience. I would say my sound identity is a melting pot of different genres (like R&B, Dancehall, Trap, HyperPop etc.) just like Miami is a nice melting pot of different amazing cultures.

I am excited about my upcoming DJ compilation tape, Suppa Sunday, which will showcase various inspiring artists and producers from South Florida. I recently dropped the first single, Lebron Wade (featuring SlicknastySlick and Mazi 444). Shoutout to the greats before me like DJ Khaled, Mike WiLL Made-It and DJ Drama for inspiring me to see this project through to the end!

It definitely wasn’t easy progressing to where I am today and I have a lot more growing to do but like I always say with every major struggle come major growth. I’ve learned a lot from collaborating with peers that I’ve quickly grown to respect and admire within the music realm. That with constantly watching producer interviews and beat tutorials on Youtube has greatly accelerated my producer growth.

A lesson I learned along the way is that it is very important to surround yourself with individuals that truly have your best interest at heart, especially when you’re on the rise. True Loyalty is a rare gem because unfortunately sometime in life you catch yourself amongst people who will make you believe that they are riding for you until there are some hurdles needed to be crossed. Then ulterior motives by fake friends come to light and you realize that was not the case which will coincidently make you appreciate true loyalty that much more. You don’t trust that someone is never going to betray you. You just trust that you’ll be able to handle it if they do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
– Grab some Perry Wings

– Explore Wynwood and its lovely Art District

– Visit Historic Overtown to get a taste of Miami’s black heritage

– Go to the FTX Arena and catch a Miami Heat Game

– Visit the Frost Museum

– Ride motor scooters thru Brickell at night and then vibe at a nice rooftop Bar

– Turn up at Tootsie’s

– Catch a luxury boat ride at the Miami Beach Marina

– Play basketball at Rolling Oaks Park in Miami Gardens and then grab authentic Jamaican food for lunch from Macca Tree

– End a night looking over the Miami Skyline

All of these sites and activities are apart of my cultural story.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
