We had the good fortune of connecting with Tayler Scharg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tayler, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind owning my own business was honestly just the desire to work for myself. I disliked working for others; I always believed I could do it myself, and do it better. We’ve all had bosses we disliked working for, right? When I started my own business, I wanted to ensure that not only could I bring my creative vision to life, but also create an excellent environment where my employees felt like family. I strive to pride myself on that!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Nothing in life is easy; I continue to make mistakes and learn from them. I’ve experienced both failure and success, and I believe that balance is the key to life. When you do fail, it’s crucial to figure out the mistakes you made and learn from them.
My brand is very important to me; my hospitality company bears my name. Therefore, I always strive to maintain a positive influence and be someone who sets a good example.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you came to Fort Lauderdale, I would definitely take you to breakfast at OB House, then head straight to the prettiest beach in Fort Lauderdale, which is called The Breakers. After that, we could enjoy happy hour at Rhythm and Vine. Following that, I would take you to my favorite Italian restaurant, Mataronos, or the best Greek restaurant, Greek Islands; you can’t go wrong with either one. Then, right after, I would take you to one of my venues for late drinks and good music. We could start at Greenroom and 27, then probably head to The Hub Spark to close out the night.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love reading, mainly autobiographies. Two current books I’ve read are “Arnold Schwarzenegger: Be Useful, Seven Tools for Life” and “Shoe Dog” by Phil Knight. I highly recommend both of these books if you want to be an entrepreneur. Their stories are great and extremely inspiring. Also would love to give my father, Scott Scharg tons of credit he was an entrepreneur and paved the way for me.
