We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Everett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
For me, the most important factor behind my success is a healthy and productive life balance. We can all work hard until we burn out, which may give us the large financial benefits that we think and dream of, but does that equal happiness and ultimate success? For me, no. If I’m able to have a social life, enjoy time to myself, explore my creative outlet through my hobbies on the side, and maintain a full-time job that provides a lifestyle for my future, then I consider myself successful. It’s always important to never “sell” yourself to your job/career and make sure you’re actively still adding in additional pieces of life that contribute to your overall happiness.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always had a love for fashion and technology but never knew how to combine the two to make a career out of it. In college, I started a technology and fashion blog that grew into building my own personal brand and working with large brands that I use and wear every day. With that, I dove deeper toward technology and started my career as a Technology Consultant at one of the ‘Big 4’ firms in the U.S., where I manage a portfolio of various software products that we sell to government agencies, and state, local, higher education clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So many to choose from! When visiting D.C., you can’t skip the monuments, so we would start the day by visiting Compass Coffee, a local favorite, and head over to walk the monuments as we sip on our drinks. From there, we’d stop by Le Diplomate for brunch, where you’ll forget you’re in D.C. and feel as if you took a step into France, to go along with their award-winning French cuisine. The next stop would be going over to Georgetown for some outside shopping at some of the best brands (i.e., Aritzia, Free People, H&M, Lululemon, Alice & Olivia, etc.). As we wrap up the day and change for dinner, we’ll head over to our reservation at Seven Reasons (voted a top restaurant in the U.S.) where we’ll enjoy local Latin American cuisine, conveniently located near the hottest spots in D.C. to go out. After dinner, we’d close the night by ordering a few drinks at Barcelona Wine Bar and chatting with some of the locals!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of my friends and family that keep pushing me to make myself better each day and add happiness to my life.
