Meet Teresita Gordon | TLC Executive Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teresita Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teresita, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before I actually being building my own brand business, I was scared to make the scarifies that would come with it. I wrote down many ideas and strategies on how I would begin and how I wanted it to be. I strategies close to a year first. So, I will be sure of how everything will go once I started. I knew this was something I wanted every thought was major I always prayed about it as well because I knew the business, that I had in mind I needed to be mentally prepared for it. Being a selfless person such as myself I had to set boundaries for me aside from my passion, I have for others, so my business doesn’t allow me to lose focus of my personal life. Not my everyday people (Family/Friends) seen it how I did. I am inspired by my strengths and abilities to be able to build a growing business where I’m always learning new things and acquiring new skills. I get to challenge myself with meeting deadlines, goals and target points, building my own business has always been my dream and now that I have started, I’m very impressed with the progress I have made. Overcoming challenges and completing difficult projects has strengthen me in all areas of my life. True Love Conquer has grown so much within 3 years.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
True Love Conquer “TLC” Recovery House Community Development Corp nonprofit organization that operates a mobile food pantry based in Miami-Dade however we have many locations where we host food distribution in communities where is mostly needed. What sets TLC apart from other organizations is that we act in urgency hosting memorable events and great community service. I’m so proud of how far we have come without major sponsors and minimum support and now we have established many partnerships. And we have become a lifeline for the communities we serve. The journey was not easy we have overcome many obstacles and faced a lot of challenges along the way, but we made it through with our mission always at heart. One valuable lesson I learned along the way is always be straight forward and stand on it because you can’t please everyone.

I want the world to know that TLC Recovery House Community Development Corp is here to serve creating opportunities to simulate and revitalize social and economic development in underserved communities throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County. TLC is a family-owned accredited nonprofit 501(c)3 organization incorporated and directed by a strong woman and her 2 beautiful children. Professionally engaged to create a global impact in every community being served.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my mother for always being there for me she is responsible for the woman I am today thank you Mama, I love you. your consistency means the world to me. Next up is my sister Margarita your support to me with TLC is forever appreciated thank you. To my two other loving sisters Tanika and Sasha thank you ladies so much for the support when I call last min for help, I greatly appreciate it my sister I love so much. I can’t forget my cousin heavy d for always showing up getting the job done thank you cuz so much. My favorite cousin Nikki Blaque(coco) who I call daily to remind me of who Iam I love you cousin and thank you for always listening to me. Saving the best for last my kids Messiah and Micaiah they are amazing business and my daily motivation they get the job done, from funding the business to assisting with events MOMMY LOVE YALL so much. And of course, my wonderful person my husband he does the most important part invest in me shoutout to you Mr. Anglin your wife forever adores you.
