We had the good fortune of connecting with Terryl Humphrey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terryl, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was learning to believe in myself. Growing up in a single-parent household with my mom raising three boys on her own, self-belief wasn’t something that came easy to me. It wasn’t just one big moment—it showed up in so many ways.

I failed my driving test three times before finally passing on the fourth. I took the ACT four times and kept scoring below 17. I had to take the ASVAB four times just to get into the Marine Corps. Each of those moments felt like a setback, like maybe I just wasn’t good enough. But the biggest lesson I learned was to keep showing up, no matter what.

Because at the end of the day, effort matters more than the outcome. Believing in myself was the hardest decision I’ve ever made because it meant pushing forward even when I had no guarantees. But once I did, I proved to myself that I was capable—and that changed everything.

What should our readers know about your business?

I know how overwhelming it can be when you’re just getting started—feeling unsure about what to say, how to show up on camera, or even where to begin. That’s why I created a simple process that takes the guesswork out of launching a podcast so you can focus on sharing your message and growing your brand.

What sets us apart is that we don’t just teach podcasting—we guide you step by step, making the process simple and easy to follow. We specialize in helping entrepreneurs go from an idea to a fully launched podcast without feeling lost or stuck. Whether it’s through our courses, coaching, or hands-on support, we make sure you have everything you need to get started and stay consistent.

One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is how many people we’ve helped overcome self-doubt and finally put themselves out there. It’s not just about starting a podcast—it’s about stepping into your purpose, building confidence, and making an impact.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a podcast but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered. From launch strategies to content planning, we help you every step of the way. Because at the end of the day, your voice matters—and the world needs to hear your story.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d start by grabbing a city guide and putting together a plan for our time together. Once they arrived, I’d take them to their hotel or Airbnb so they could settle in.

On the first day, we’d keep it simple—I’d take them to Jimmy’s Tacos so they can eat, relax, and not feel overwhelmed after traveling. The next day, we’d explore downtown, check out some spots, and get them comfortable with the city.

Day three would be all about having fun—we’d hit up Six Flags and enjoy the rides. On day four, we’d go out to eat again and visit a cool attraction to make the most of the trip. Day five would be a rest day, just to slow down and recharge.

On the last day, we’d keep things light—grab some good food, do a little sightseeing, and just enjoy the time before they have to head back.

Overall, the trip would be full of good times, great food, and a chance to disconnect from reality and just enjoy life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to thank God for using me to bless others and for allowing me to be an example for others to follow.

I also want to thank my future wife, Shani Johnson, my mom, Vetty Vet, my twin brother, and my older brothers, Timothy and Tonnie Humphrey.

A huge thank you to the mentors and my fellow OKAY boys in the OKAY program, the students and staff at Stephens Elementary School, the students and staff at Dunbar Magnet Middle School, and the students and staff at Little Rock Central High School. I’m also grateful for my teammates, the coaches at Little Rock Central High School Football, and the United States Marine Corps—including my fellow Marines, recruiters, drill instructors, instructors, and higher-ups who helped shape me along the way.

I want to acknowledge the owners, members, and community of ActionZone, as well as the students and staff at USF, the SBDC at USF staff, and the students and staff at Keiser University.

Overall, I’m grateful for everyone who has played a role in my journey and helped me become the person I am today. Thank you all.
