We had the good fortune of connecting with The CLLCTVS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The CLLCTVS, how does your business help the community?
Through filmmaking, we as The Collectives strive to collaborate in providing meaningful and inspiring content creatively. With cinematic excellence, we hope our social impact is one that can bring together creatives of all kinds in the South Florida area. We give a space for artists/filmmakers to create without needing to be trendy. We explore real stories inspired by real people and real events, while strengthening our skills in the industry.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When it comes to expressing our art, we have a multitude of stories to share. Unlike most production companies that prioritize their products, our focus is centered around people. Recognizing the challenging nature of the South Florida industry and the absence of readily available opportunities, we decided to take matters into our own hands. By leveraging the resources within our talented team, we have embarked on a journey of creating our own opportunities. Currently, we are thrilled about the completion of our first collective short film, “Genesis,” which we plan to submit to various film festivals. Additionally, we are in the pre-production phase of our upcoming series, “Sisterhood,” and have a lineup of monthly micro-projects ready for release.
The excitement stems from our ability to undertake large-scale creative endeavors alongside our skilled team. Although we are still considered a start-up, reaching this point has required significant networking, research, securing funding, and establishing relationships with like-minded corporations and creatives. Along this path, we have encountered challenges, most notably in the form of ignorance. Not everyone comprehends our vision, and some even ridicule it. The very act of creating on the scale we aspire to has drawn criticism. However, we are inspired by the fact that even the most celebrated actors, filmmakers, directors, and successful business owners started with nothing more than a dollar and a dream. We aim to remind the world that dreams can indeed become reality, but it takes diligent effort to make them happen.
Our collective is a vibrant assembly of young, diverse, and creative minds, united in breaking barriers through the power of our creativity and platform. We endeavor to inspire individuals of all ages, showcasing that if we can achieve our dreams regardless of life’s obstacles, so can they.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
to ensure a fantastic experience for someone in South Florida, we have a few incredible places in mind. Firstly, we would invite them to DancePluss, an all-in-one local destination in Fort Lauderdale. This exceptional family owned venue combines a vibrant arcade, a dynamic dance studio, a delightful eatery, and an event space where our famous game nights take place.
For a more chill and captivating experience, we would venture to the Shisha lounge in Fort Lauderdale. This establishment offers an ambiance of splendor and relaxation, allowing our guests to unwind and enjoy their time to the fullest!!
No one would ever believe our guests visited Miami if we do not take selfies at The Beauty Hub Expo located in Miami Gardens – this creative suite offers numerous rooms for content creators, photographers, podcasts, event planners looking for their next shoot or event. Did someone say cheese?
And let’s not forget about indulging in some irresistible treats! To satisfy our cravings, we would head over to True Craves, one of our cherished catering companies located in Miami. They specialize in creating delectable sweets that are sure to please and leave a lasting impression.
So, if you’re seeking a memorable and delightful time in South Florida, these are the spots we highly recommend!
P.S they are all Black-owned 🙂
