We had the good fortune of connecting with The Foodie Dolly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Foodie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up in Miami, I’ve always had a passion for the culture, food, and people. I found myself going to the hot/new restaurants, writing reviews, and even attending Croqueta Palooza. I loved the Miami food scene and I wanted to be more involved. I knew I wanted to make a food page but I wanted it to be different. I wanted people to see my pictures and know it was me and a watermark was not going to suffice. I thought hard on how I would stand out while being this unfiltered, funny, and exaggerated version of myself and that’s when The Foodie Dolly was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hmmm you want to know about the art and what sets me apart from others? It’s me, I’m the art.

I got to where I am today by being myself and not taking life too seriously. It’s all about having fun, duh.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are to always be your true self and don’t try to please everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a loaded question because Miami has so many great spots!

I’ll just spotlight Coconut Grove since there are so many new and fun things to do.

We would have to go to Greenstreet and Monty’s, obvi. Kush, Chugs, B Bistro and Peacock Garden are great breakfast spots. If they haven’t tried escargot, I’d take them to Le Bouchon. Planta Queen and Mister 01 are delish too. If they want to watch a movie, Cinepolis is great. At night, we can grab a drink at Key Club and maybe go to Baracudas and Sandbar to relive our college days. For dessert, Morelia’s and Fireman Derek’s. The Barncale and Kampong are great spots to hangout and maybe have a photoshoot. Honestly, there are just so many cool places in the Grove.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my family. They support all my crazy ideas and are always there to help. They inspire me, challenge me, and have changed my life for the better.
