We had the good fortune of connecting with The Organizers Mercedes & Laura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Organizers, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As two creatives, my partner is an Interior Designer, and I am an Artist/Teacher, we both wanted to assist people within their homes and/or businesses.

Piecing our talents together, and with the vast experience in moving, we decided to make a mélange of our capacities. I have probably moved almost once for every year of my life, and Laura has already moved enough to acquire the savvy ability of packing and unpacking, calculating diverse spaces to create a harmonious home, small or large, forming a nest of well-being.
Mercedes: I have organized my family and friends all my life, long before I was recognized as a Professional organizer.

Laura: Organizing was born within me due to my passion to plan the organizing of spaces. I have always loved to create new and better spaces for others.

We chose to form a team to help those who need to move by packing, managing their move, and continuing to do the setup of their possessions. Hence, we plan the project and organize the new home, office, warehouse, etc., and include some Interior Designing.

We do not approach a project with a predetermined method, we get to know what their needs and routines are, so our work will become a sustainable part of their Lifestyle enhancement. Since the average American spends 2.5 days a year searching for lost items and collectively, American households cost $2.7 billion annually in replacement fees; The Organizers saw the need to reclaim the spaces within homes, offices, warehouses, etc. Address clutter and recover lost things, helping to transform a client’s life, so they can take back their home.

The Organizers seek that, whether in a divorce or separation of property, a move, or the loss of a loved one, you have someone who can understand you and provide you with immediate solutions for what you have neither head nor time. The company firmly believes that its work does a lot of good for others, as creating wellness improves mental, emotional, and physical health in all people.

The Organizational Process includes our own custom-made system for each individual project.

First, we take an overview of the project itself.
Talk to the client, listening to his frustrations, and urgencies. His wants, strengths, and weaknesses.
Hence, we develop the plan by taking measurements and photos.
We start by purging and decluttering. Once this is done, we start categorizing.
We must design the system within the space that we have. Thus, we recycle, repurpose, and buy supplies.
It must be manageable, practical, easy, and delightful to the eyes. And of course, everything must be previously cleaned to commence and produce our Magic!

But the altruistic work of The Organizers does not end only with its client, it also helps those who are in need with donations and accessible sales of certain belongings that you no longer need, such as clothes, lingerie, furniture, kitchen utensils, tools, etc.

Our motto is:
“Right sizing your Life”.

What should our readers know about your business?
It hasn’t been easy. Finding out what we do is one of our main challenges because most people do not accurately know what organizers do, or how we can improve their lives in a real meaningful way. The idea is to fit into the person’s lifestyle so that it becomes sustainable. We strive to tailor our designs and our systems to our client’s needs. We always try to overcome this challenge by teaching our clients how design can influence their state of mind and productivity. Hence, having surroundings that are pleasant and orderly will positively affect the enjoyment of their lives.

Moving is a most stressful process. People move for business, illness, divorce, death in the family and even, as we can see every day in this our South Florida, Political exile, which is devastating. These changes alone can be overwhelming for most people. Laura and I are both immigrants, we have had to start all over again, several times. Therefore, we understand thoroughly the frustration of having to make a living under very stressful circumstances. We see the needs of families; this knowledge permits us to offer more services than any other company in the area.

We are both from Venezuela, but from 2 different generations. Therefore, we decided that we could provide services to Millennials as well as Baby Boomers. So, we represent two different visions, and lifestyles. But we have a common denominator which is getting to know our client. Their needs, their lifestyle, their aesthetics, and preferences in home décor.

What we are most proud of and excited about is how satisfying it is to see how happy and grateful people are for our services. Our clients become our friends. The result is fascinating, when you see that the person feels better, changes their habits, and begins to live with more serenity and complacency. We offer a maintenance program to keep up with the organization, and we also offer a Virtual Consultation service for those far away.

“We learn from each other every day, and from each client, and each project. Always improving ourselves day by day.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We definitely take our friends and family to the many beaches on South Florida’s coastline. The three counties offer a great variety of international cuisine, there are so many great restaurants, Latin American, Italian, Spanish, Asian, Indian, Greek foods. The Keys is a special place to spend a few days, there is a taste of the Atlantic, the Gulf and the Caribbean if you are visiting Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mercedes: I have organized my family and friends all my life, long before I was recognized as a Professional organizer. My family and friends have always encouraged me to do this professionally.

Laura: I was very stimulated by all the TV shows that demonstrate organization and design. On a personal view, I must thank my boyfriend because he helped me to materialize my dream of becoming a Professional Organizer.
