We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Chen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theresa, how does your business help the community?
As an Asian hair salon in America,we are facing more challenges. We want to grow diverse, attracting people from different races other than Asian. At this point,we asked a lot of helps from local people, trying to integrate into this environment. We participated in some events, sharing different cultures one another. It took us years to blend in. Now we have various races of clients, get people from different countries together to share beauty and life. As we expand our salon,we encounter another problem:lack of professionals. In this sector,we need to renew the skill up to date, and we were in high demand of professionals for our new store. So we ended up looking for beauty school to collaborate with, surprisingly,we also figure out how to improve graduated students’ skills in real life and support them in real life as well. Moreover,as climate crisis rises,we are also aware of importance of eco-friendly measurement,we now abandon disposal gloves, trying to creat less waste, simultaneously spread this mindset to our clients and employees. Lastly, now we look back to our past, some junior of our clients have grown up,becoming dynamic,or some of them are starting their new life journey,it is so touching. We are so grateful for our clients and our own persistence, hope this can inspire any other business. Thank you.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Broadly,we are a hair salon. But specifically,we are more than a hair salon. As we running this business,we found beauty is not only about appearance but also internal confidence. We aim to observe people’s beauty first, then get them the best fit. As a hair salon,we admit there are a lot of resources comsumption which could is not good, such as glove, paper, water, foil. So we are now practicing eco-friendly advocate for a sustanable earth. We are still a growing company in spite of overcoming the hardest beginning. Back in the day,the owner was out of support, nor family neither friends, encounterd offense from public. A small team was her last hope. Now we are here. We. leanrt how to maintain our initial vision, how to be persistent, how to encourage all other small business to find themselvs and to thrive. We are still learning.
For hair enthusiasts,we positively there to support them,we hope every hair student can get best real-life expiriences on this beauty industry and lean more. We always provide professional learning class for them, endorse them. So in this sense, we are keeping expanding our salon for new people to share and enjoy this industry.

Acuo Wang is the owner of the company as well as the founder. She is creative and resilient. She is always the one overcoming all ordeals the company encountered, and never says give up. She is also generous and attentive to her employees. Even her personal life is tough enough, she still dedicates herself to provide best experiences. She also advocates eco-friendly in the company, which employees are all influenced by her.
