We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiago Magro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiago, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balance…this is I believe one of the most important things you can have through the growth of your business and personal life. It really does change over the different coarse of your business. As an artist I find myself having work projects at all times of the month but I make it a point to make time for me and my family. We all go through different seasons and what’s important is prioritizing through those seasons. Your metal health is also effected by this and for me what I place on the cavass is a lot of what I am feeling. If I don’t feel real good, my work will usually feel the same. Money will come and go but the importance of making space and time for the people you love actually make an impact on the success of my business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Wow… you know I remember growing up in Brazil where art really was not a “career”. I think most of my teachers thought I would not amount to anything to tell you the truth. The only class I ever did good in was art and I understand why today! I mainly do mixed media art that really is a mesh up of materials that in someway speak to me. I am intentional in making my pieces speak and express love in some shape or form. I am a firm believer that the emotion of love is shown and then felt and that’s why I use bright colors, layers and different materials. There have been many people that have tried to do the same but you cannot duplicate the originality of someone’s gift. The process may be the same but the feeling will never be the same! It makes me proud to know that I can do that for people. People can be assured that when they have a piece of mine it comes with love and that makes me proud. Getting to where I am today has been 100% hard work! Trial and error. You learn through the years what works best for you and I’ve been able to do that. Also just stay humble…. My gift was given to me and staying humble keeps you on track. That gift is precious and it can be stripped away in a second. It’s also never easy! If its too easy you may have to question it.
If there is anything I would want the world to know about my story is that Love is simple and we have the ability to use whatever gift that is to show it. Don’t waste time and just go out there and create!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that deserve some credit but number one and biggest shoutout goes to GOD! He is the one that gave me this gift to share. He created us to create and I’m thankful for that. My wife, kids and my family and friends from places I have lived like Brazil, New York and Texas. There are so many different artists that have inspired me and just community. I do want to also shout out Assi and Ana, Philip Sohn, Marcel Katz, Jeremy Heller, they all saw things in me and pushed me to do better and greater things within my craft….So thank you!
