Meet Tiffany Santaliz Vidal | Entrepreneur, Owner of House of Mofos

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Santaliz Vidal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business on the 4th of July in 2020 – yes, during the pandemic. At the time, everything was uncertain, for the whole world. As a mother, my oldest was about 8 years old & my twins were around 2 years old, so just wanted to be able to create a bit of a safety net for my kids. I started selling fresh cookies, like still warm from the oven, straight to the customers doors. My customers started within the neighborhood & very, very soon, all over the city. Within months, I expanded to other desserts & hot food.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As someone who has a food focused brand, I definitely see my food & my brand itself, as my art, more than just a business. It’s an expression of myself, my husband – as he’s gotten a lot more involved over the years, our kids, our family & of course, our ancestors that came before us.
The art is first. The business is secondary.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be honest, while I’d never turn down a chance to dance the night away at a Latin club (salsa, merengue, bachata!), I have always been such a homebody! I’m such an introvert, as well, so I love a good movie on my sofa in the comfort of my own space! Plus, I don’t love anyone else’s food like I love ours & the whole event that is cooking at home with my husband. Just being totally honest!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When it comes to the ones who have kept me going on this journey, it’s absolutely been my husband & my kids. I met my husband in 2010 & he’ didn’t really get my vision for House of Mofos in the beginning, but he’s definitely learned by now to fully trust in my intuition, so whenever I have an idea that sounds kind of out there, he just goes with it wholeheartedly, As for my kids, they always think everything I do is worth an applause, which is nice! They’ve all been at the pop ups from the beginning and our oldest has actually worked plenty of them, taking orders, for years & he’s only 13! Couldn’t ask for better support!
