We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Watkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was my intention with my business to help give Women a voice. I wanted there to be a place where we could talk candidly about our experiences as Women in cannabis – the good, the bad, and the ugly. And I didn’t want fear of censorship and retaliation to be a factor.
I could not find a platform like that, so I created one.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vanguard Media Online is more than a magazine – it is a movement for Women. Everything we do serves to empower Women. The idea for this movement began about 8 years ago when I started holding small townhall style cannabis talks called Ladycanna 101, where Women would come and talk about their relationship with cannabis.
These intimate conversations were bold, but everyone felt safe to share, and give/receive advice. We talked freely about integrating cannabis into our lives.
Women share their journeys through parenting, relationships and business. Good times and bad times. I knew I had to do more to empower their positions; broaden their voices.
That is how the platform was born.
Since then it’s grown to events, outreach programs, and mentoring.
This has been a major undertaking, and I’m no where near done yet! Vanguard is read all over the country (30+states), Canada, Jamaica, and Australia.
There are so many compelling stories to be told by Women in cannabis – and we intend to get to all of them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would first go to the beach, swim a little, then spend some time sitting in the sand, watching the waves, and smoking a joint. Next, we’d find a watering hole nearby (ocean view) and grab something to drink, and a snack.
Time for shopping. We’d take a trip to some of LA’s best boutiques.
Then we’d go find some live music outdoors – smoke another joint and vibe with the music until sundown.
Then head back to our lodging and get ready for a dinner of sushi with a side of sake.
After a few more tokes, we’d head out to a local pub for more music and good vibes.
The night finishes with a final joint and a bottle of water.
Prepare to do it all again tomorrow!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my lovely wife Selina Watkins. She has been there throughout much of my journey, championing me and believing in my success. She keeps me strong, and makes sure I listen to myself.
