We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiquana Roberts-Deloach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiquana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Lighthouse Angels Inc has a heart for the community of Miami Dade County and surrounding areas where we have the privilege to provide wraparound services to individuals and families who are low-to-moderate income. The services we provide for the elderly population ages 55 and up are healthy feeding program, computer technology training, health and wellness, arts and crafts, grief and spiritual counseling and social/emotional redevelopment skills; for the unsheltered population we provide housing assistance referrals, hygiene products, hot meals and clothing, mental health referrals/assistance, counseling and wellness check-ups. We partner also with the City of Miami Mayor, local Commissioners, and Farm Share to provide food on a weekly basis through the entire City of Miami. In addition, we recently have partnered with TLC Recovery House Community Development Center who also sponsors food for our senior program locations within Miami Dade County. We give on a yearly basis to children and families in need by having our turkey basket drives and toy giveaways along with back to school supplies to restore families in our community.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lighthouse Angels Inc is a nonprofit 501c3 organization visioned and governed by God where we demonstrates Matthew 5:14-16 throughout the world. Our mission is to provide resources to those who are in need mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually to help them get back to a place of stability and self sufficiency.

To share a brief component of my story, God has always allowed our family to
be a refuge to His people where our home was a place where anyone who needed somewhere to live can come and feel safe. However, my life did a detour where my family were faced with the hardest challenge in our lifetime. In
July 2009, I lost my home and had to live with close relatives, sleep in my car and lastly live in a shelter all within a 2-year span. Not to mention, losing our jobs, our car and experienced the tragic loss of my mother while going through losing everything. My family and I faced many challenges but never seized to lack trust in God. In 2011, never seized to lack to trust in God restored our family to a place of stability where we were blessed us with jobs and a place to call home. Our passion of giving never stopped and in 2012 we did our first Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway as we were able to feed 4 families. It was a start to something great. In 2014, God inspired
our name through one of our brothers in Christ and together we sought the
face of God on how he wanted us to carry the vision through. God gave us
everything and even the location he wanted us to target first. In 2020, we decided to legalize our name and expanded our services through Miami Dade county. We strive to put an end to homelessness and break the cycle of poverty off those we serve within the community. We have been devoted to serving over 250,000 individuals and families throughout Miami Dade County with the help from our team leaders, volunteers, spiritual leaders/church family, community partners/leaders. Our organization successfully serves with a heart of compassion to those who are considered the broken, least and rejected. Transforming lives is our focus and we have understood the assignment to build each person we encounter with love, kindness, peace, hope and dignity. Our programs and services are focused on reaching back to those in need in several ways such as by being an aid and resource to cease homelessness and restore self- sufficiency, distributing food to needy families to prevent food insecurity, providing mentorship and resources to at risk youth, and providing services to the elderly population.

Our challenges as a grass root non profit organization can be extremely difficult because of the lack funding and assistance to properly serve the community how you truly will like to; thus you end up using your own funds to support your mission. Not to mention, the lack of volunteers which causes you and your team to overwork to make sure the community is served. We overcame some of our challenges by networking more with other like minded community leaders who don’t mind lending a helping hand where is needed.

The lessons we learned along the journey is to not depise small beginnings; to trust the process and serve with a pure heart. For instance, the people we are privileged to serve are considered low income or some don’t even have income so we have to be reminded that making sure we meet their needs is our biggest priority which keeps us going. Our overall mission is to show unconditional LOVE to all people and to be a LIGHT to the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had the opportunity to treat a friend I would take them on a day of relaxation and love. For example, that morning I would pick them up in a limo and take them for a beautiful brunch by the water preferably at Shooters waterfront restaurant and then to Ritz Carlton for a complete spa day with a massage, facial, pedicure and manicure. After our spa day we will eat a nice lunch by the pool area and have girl talk and a time of encouragement.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give all Glory and honor to the Most High God Jesus Christ who gives me an opportunity to serve His people. I dedicate a shoutout to my amazing family who sacrifice themselves to help the vision go forth, my husband Latrodd Deloach Sr, my children Tyquan, Isaiah and Latrodd Jr whom I love dearly. Shout out to Lighthouse Angels team leaders, volunteers, community partners and spiritual leaders who help us fulfill the mandate to light up the world with the Love of God. Most of all, shout out to every family and individual we have been graced to help in their time of need. Thank you for believing in us and allowing us to serve you. We love you and most of all we are honored to serve.
