We had the good fortune of connecting with Toccara Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toccara, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts behind starting a business were that I could be successful as an entrepreneur by utilizing the skills I developed through playing basketball. The game has truly prepared me with life skills that I feel are necessary not only for life, but business as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I know that people feel that going into or starting a business is easy, but it takes some work and action on your part. After I finished my career as a basketball player in 2012, I started coaching and started my nonprofit organization called Sweet Rebound. During my tenure of playing professional basketball, I obtained my real estate license, which is where I pivoted into action full time in 2020 when Covid hit.

I took all the skills that I developed over the years of playing basketball and incorporated those into my real estate career. This is something that I’m extremely passionate about because it allows me to be my authentic self and provide a selfless service to others. Many people feel that real estate is all about buying and selling homes, when for me it provides something greater. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I understand I’m a finder of solutions. I feel that when I approach real estate from this perspective, I’m able to provide something more than just a purchase and sell. I’ve been tagged as The Basketball Real Estate Mogul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Israel would be the spot that I would select. When I was there it was amazing. The food was superb, and the nightlife was awesome. The dead sea and the western wall would be on the list to visit and experience. Just walking through the city of Jerusalem would be pretty awesome knowing that it’s a place in the Bible and we could actually visit explore. It’s very rich in culture. When I played overseas there, I had an amazing time. Being able to show my friend the place where I’ve had the opportunity to live and learn ranks high on my list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I most certainly give a shout out to not only my friend, but also my mentor Terrence Murphy. Terrence and I first met while we both attended Texas A&M University. He was the star of the football team; I was the star on the basketball team. We developed a friendship there and who knew that our paths would cross again in the real estate world. Terrence has accomplished many things that I strive to do in this industry. To be able to partner up and work in the same organization has been life changing.
