We had the good fortune of connecting with Toni Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Toni, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
One of the habits that helped me to succeed in business is to surround myself with the experts who knew more about what I needed to carry out my vision. I am great at doing my part, writing the vision, investing in the vision and taking radical action. However, sometimes I found myself recreating the wheel due to a lack of knowledge and experience, and it was only after the fact that I made this discovery of what wasn’t working well as a team of one. There is no such thing as a self-made person. Many have positioned me to succeed. I value my team of experts.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In past years I taught in elementary and middle school and am also a licensed educational guidance counselor. I have taken what I have learned in the classroom beyond the four walls. My students are mostly adult today. I teach and guide women and some men through various life challenges and help them to gain clarity concerning their highest and best self. Some would say I spark them at the core of their souls to discover accept and embrace their unique gifts and talents to better serve the world.
I am the creator and founder of Soul Sparking Worldwide, LLC. We are a personal and professional development organization catering to women and girls who want to SOAR and ROAR in life. To SOAR is to show up, own up and positively act up in order to rise up! To ROAR is to be resilient, optimistic, accountable and restored. We teach and reach through workshops, conferences, books, and empowerment events.
As a licensed REALTOR I assist Nevadans with purchasing their dream homes and investment properties. As a best selling author, I write books to start conversations about difficult subjects and to offer a safe place to heal. As a writing coach, I walk clients through the writing process to birth books that will change the world. As an empowerment event producer, I serve women from all walks of life in their journey toward self-improvement and offer them a safe environment to grow. As a baker of the best pound cakes in North Las Vegas, Nevada I enhance the cake eating experience with moist, flavorful, fancy perfection in a bundt!
I’ve learned that multiple streams of income serve to position the entrepreneur to remain flexible and creative in times of famine. Also, it is important to do a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis to gauge the success or failure of a thing at every turn.
I want the world to know that it is their prerogative to reintroduce themselves to the world however many times they decide to reinvent themselves. Seasons change and people do too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my best friends will be visiting at the end of the month. After scooping her up at the airport, we will head to GRITZ CAFE for a little soul food brunch of chicken and waffles and all the fixings. Once she has had an opportunity to get changed and refreshed we will take a drive to Mount Charleston for a peaceful hike and some fresh air. Summers in Las Vegas are unbearable outdoors, but the mountain temps are usually a whole lot cooler, especially in the shade.
For some indoor sights we will head to the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens to take a look at their latest floral installation. It’s always a gorgeous sight to behold. There are also numerous options for dining all around this general area, but we have reservations at Giada Las Vegas.
Lastly, we will take a scenic drive on Las Vegas Boulevard ending at The 7 Magic Mountains, and art installation in the middle of the desert. We will watch the sunset here. It provides a breathtaking view of the mountains and excellent photo opportunities.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, Brenda Joyce Hickman was a writer. scholar and brilliant mind of her time. She was an accomplished Registered Nurse, dedicated wife and very supportive mother. Although she never published, many relied on her wisdom and wit. I owe her. It is because of her strength, courage and faith that I continue to SOAR at all I set out to do.
