We had the good fortune of connecting with Toya Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toya, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When GA (Glamour Art) 1st start my main goal was to ensure that I give customers the best makeup looks for whatever the occasion.
I honestly didn’t have a business plan or module to follow. I really just created it day by day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a makeup artist isn’t the easiest job as some people may believe.
I’ve always tried to treat GA ( Glamour Art) more like a brand/business as opposed to me being an artist.
Pushing the envelope, being different and creative is what sets a business apart. Nothing came easy. Especially being from a small island.
Ceating avenues and opportunities was the only way I could stand out.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooouuu St. Lucia has so many amazing places and things to do.
I would honestly have to say Gros Islet Friday night. It’s the essence of our culture. You can get great food, hear great music and feel the vibe of the people. It’s like a one stop shop

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few people who gave me some great advice when I 1st started but to be honest I would be nothing with my clients. There would be no GA
