We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Milgram and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tracy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Tracy Milgram, the founder of BRCAStrong, was driven by a deep sense of purpose and a desire to create a supportive community for individuals facing hereditary cancer risks. Her journey began with her own experience as a BRCA carrier, which opened her eyes to the unique challenges faced by those in similar situations. Tracy recognized the need for a space where previvors, survivors, and thrivers could find resources, share their stories, and feel empowered. With this vision, she founded BRCAStrong, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education, support, and advocacy for individuals at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Tracy’s thought process was rooted in empathy, resilience, and a commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of others, turning her personal experience into a powerful mission to uplift and inspire.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At BRCAStrong, what sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to creating a deeply personalized and inclusive community for those affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. We are most proud of our ability to connect with individuals on a personal level, offering not just resources but also a sense of belonging and empowerment. Our focus on supporting previvors, survivors, and thrivers, regardless of their predisposition, ensures that everyone feels seen and valued in their journey.
Getting to where we are today was far from easy. The road was filled with challenges, from raising awareness about the unique needs of our community to securing the necessary resources to grow our initiatives. Overcoming these challenges required resilience, creativity, and a relentless belief in our mission. We leaned heavily on the support of our community, our dedicated volunteers, and the partnerships we’ve built with healthcare professionals and organizations that share our vision.
Along the way, we’ve learned the importance of listening—really listening—to the voices of those we serve. We’ve learned that vulnerability is a strength and that by sharing our own stories, we create space for others to do the same. Collaboration has been key; we couldn’t have achieved what we have without the collective effort of so many passionate individuals.
What we want the world to know about BRCAStrong is that our story is one of resilience, community, and unwavering dedication to making a difference. We are more than just an organization; we are a movement, a family, and a beacon of hope for those navigating the complexities of hereditary cancer. Our brand is built on empathy, empowerment, and the belief that together, we are stronger.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
At BRCAStrong, our success is a collective effort, and we are incredibly grateful to the many individuals and organizations that have supported our journey. First and foremost, we want to dedicate our shoutout to the resilient community of previvors, survivors, and thrivers who inspire us every day with their courage and strength. Their stories are the heartbeat of BRCAStrong, and their unwavering determination fuels our mission.
We also want to recognize the incredible healthcare professionals, advocates, and mentors who have guided us along the way. A special thank you to the dedicated physicians and medical teams who partner with us to provide vital resources and care to those at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. Their expertise and compassion are invaluable to our work.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to our supporters, donors, and volunteers. Your belief in our mission and your generosity make it possible for us to continue empowering and uplifting those impacted by hereditary cancer. Together, we are BRCAStrong, and together, we are making a difference.
