We had the good fortune of connecting with Trisha Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Photography has always been my passion, even more when I began traveling all around the world with my high school sweetheart in the early 2000s. Fast forward to 2014 I was asked by a dear friend to photograph her Engagement session and the rest is history. I realized that capturing love behind my lens is what I was destined to do. Destiny has let me to where I am today. I finally parted ways with my “career” job as a banker, so I thought, and pursued my passion full time. The best decision I ever made!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love creating meaningful memories for my clients. My editorial flare sets me apart from other photographers. The use of light and posing for the magazine worthy captures is what fuels my soul. I am also very much a candid photographer. I love to step back, observe and capture the organic interactions between my couples, guest reactions and all of what the wedding day has to offer. My vow is to capture romantic and timeless imagery for my couples.

Pursuing my dream career was an easy decision for me once I realized that existing career was no longer serving me. It didn’t bring me much joy, excitement, or job satisfaction. I decided it was time for a change. As a creative, I needed to feel alive and inspired again. Photography filled that void for me. I joined retreats, met wonderful people along the way, gained the motivation and started to finally elevate my craft, my art and my business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love city life. I’m such a city girl. I enjoy rooftop sunsets, cafes, pop up shops, interactive experiences and all that New York City has to offer. I also like to get away from the city once in a while on weekends or day trips to quaint beach towns where the atmosphere is serene and calm to allow myself to reset and unwind.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My encouragement and biggest cheerleader, my sissy, Donata.
