Meet Trisha Padilla | Artist & Tattooist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trisha Padilla and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trisha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
An artistic career was something that came naturally because I have always been creatively in tuned. I have explored many other fields, but nothing has come close to the feeling I receive when I create. Now that I am older and evolving, my reasons for pursuing an artistic career increases. For instance, many things are happening in current events, politics, theories, philosophies, morals, and more than what meets the eye. I use art as a way to speak about what I believe in, what I support, and what I stand for. In depth, my ethnic roots expect a specific lifestyle from me and tattooing has always been a misogynistic industry, but today I stand as an Asian American woman breaking barriers and stereotypes as I pursue the life of an artist. Art is not only my passion, but has become my voice.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am who I am today by taking risks and being consistent. I would say that I have come across many challenges, but I believe that nothing worth it, comes easy. Along the way I have learned how to manage my time and recognize my value. It is important to never under sell yourself. I take my time when creating because a piece of me is put into everything that I do. It is my hope that everyone I encounter from friends, family, clients, and others can observe and appreciate my love and compassion for what I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week long trip in Jacksonville given all that it has to offer. There is mouth watering food and great scenery. From the Cummer Museum of Arts & Gardens to roof top dinning at River & Post! We would enjoy the view of the city of Jacksonville from dusk to dawn.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my parents for being loving and supportive. Shoutout to my mentors, Josh [@yesh_artful] and Shano [@95getmoney] at Born Artful Studios, and Tuki [@tukicarter] at City of Ink.
