We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Guzzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business for a variety of reasons. First and foremost: My family has a DNA of entrepreneurship. My great grandfather owned and managed a hotel, my grandfather owned a furniture shop, and between his brothers they had owned a variety of businesses from radiator shops, to meat markets, and even a bird shops.

So it’s truly an honor at a deep level for me, to be a part of this fraternity of Guzzo’s that have created something that helps out their community.

Second, I had worked for other people primarily from the age of 16-26 years of age. I always felt like I had so much more to offer, like I wasn’t truly fulfilled in just being a part of someone else’s creation. I felt as though I was held back and I was ultimately not living up to my full potential. That in itself is a nightmare for me.

Lastly, I’ll never forget working as a Physical Therapy Professional in a Nursing home when I first finished my schooling. It was the most impactful experience I had to date. I was able to see individuals at the end of their lifespan and how they acted. It was very clear to me, who lived a fulfilling life following their dreams and were completely ok with being in the twilight of their life. On the contrary it was very clear who didn’t… and that gave me a perspective of just how short life really is and how impactful the decisions we make everyday truly are.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We separate ourselves from others in the fitness industry by offering personalized programs AND group training models to not only fit the client’s needs but their lifestyle as well.

We know that not one size fits all and that’s reflected in our systems, our communication and most importantly in the support we provide our clients. Some people need daily check-ins while others need them monthly or weekly. Some people need specific instructions on how to do exercises, while others can just see it done once and grasp the concept. Some people need individualized nutrition coaching while others just need a small tweak to their current plan.

I’ve worked with thousands of patients and clients over the past 8 years as a physical therapy pro and a personal trainer. Over the course of that time I’ve learned what actually drives results and keeps our clients consistent. So that’s why we focus so much on support and community because that’s ultimately what most people need to do this long term.

Hands down nobody offers more support at scale than we do.

Lastly, I’ve been overweight, I’ve recovered from 4 ACL tears, I’ve worked with clients of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and ages. So, everything we teach I’ve not only gone through by experiencing it myself but it’s also been tested and proven to work with people from all walks of life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
#1 without a doubt would be visiting the Hollywood Beach Community workout hosted by yours truly. We meet at 10 AM every Saturday morning, the location varies but as of late you can find us in front of Yogurt Ur Way just south of Margaritaville Resort. There’s really no better way to start your weekend. We’ve had Josh Levy our city’s mayor in attendance, locals and tourists from all over participate in our morning workout.

Now, if it were a romantic evening with this “friend” then you need to check out the Rusty Pelican in Miami. It’s got an amazing view of downtown, outdoor seating, great service and delicious menu.

Afterward I would take them to Wynwood for some wine and local, LIVE jazz music at Lagniappe. There they have a large patio area outside where you can sit amongst friends and turn up your own volume OR you can stay inside and share a plate of charcuterie while enjoying local, live jazz performances.

If you’re wanting something more of a club situation – Mangos in South Beach is a place I think anyone visiting should check out. Its historic to South Beach, has 3 different “dance floors’ ‘ inside of the club and its got the main attraction of live performers on stage right when you walk in.

Wharf in Miami or Fort Lauderdale is a good time too. Outdoor bar, cool music, outdoor yard games and food trucks (Miami Wharf).

For just a general friend visit I would highly recommend checking out any deal on Groupon for jet ski deals in Miami harbor. You can see the view of the city during the day and get a good adrenaline rush too.

Of course you have a few other obvious attractions like the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Calle Ocho, the Wynwood Walls in Miami, Downtown Brickell – really South Florida has so many options.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
