We had the good fortune of connecting with Ufficio Studio Crista Bernasconi & Sofia Noceti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ufficio Studio, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Our thought process was deeply rooted in our desire to establish a clear and authentic voice for our studio. We prioritized how we wanted to communicate, what the essence of the studio would be, our motivations, strengths, and the unique value proposition we could offer.
Rather than solely focusing on the business aspect, we concentrated on crafting the identity of the studio. We had prior experience working independently, so we were familiar with the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. This background allowed us to shift our focus exclusively to shaping the voice of the studio.
As the studio specializes in crafting thoughtful brands through a conceptual approach and design research, we approached the creation of our own brand with the same method; drawing inspiration from elements of the old office and the craft, as we consider our practice a craft. We’re inspired by typewriters, cassette tapes, and all those items that used to clutter desks – photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, and dot matrix printers. Ufficio is office, is design, and is craftsgirlship.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our work focuses on creating brands and experiences that transcend the conventional. What sets us apart is our deep curiosity and a non conformity attitude. We take pride and find excitement in the dedication we put into each project, always striving for originality and depth in our creations.
Both of us came together after a long journey of many years of work and different experiences. Each with our own path, we joined at a moment when the establishment of the studio flowed naturally. Although the road hasn’t been easy, our passion for what we do and our meticulousness have driven us to work hard every day.
We’ve overcome challenges with determination and commitment. Each obstacle has taught us valuable lessons about the importance of hard work, perseverance, and creativity. We’ve learned not to settle for the first option, to research and delve into each project, and to embrace experimentation as a fundamental part of our creative process.
We want the world to know that we love what we do and that we always seek for fun in every project. We are dedicated to creating brands that grow alongside us, not just in size but also in meaning. We are curious individuals who value research and depth, and we strive to apply these qualities in everything we do. We’re passionate about experimentation and constantly seek new forms of creative expression.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We don’t believe in the recommendations of ‘must-go’ places. We’re a little tired of the ‘must-visit places’ promoted by influencers. Instead, we fervently believe that the best places to visit are often those stumbled upon unexpectedly. Getting lost in a city and discovering a place without preconceptions, without the notion that it’s a ‘must-see’ because ‘someone said so’—that’s what excites us. We love wandering and stumbling upon hidden gems and discoveries. This approach mirrors our design process; we always explore different paths to achieve fresh results. Any place where you are can be a great inspiration There’s no singular path, no one-size-fits-all view.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to dedicate our acknowledgment to the University of Buenos Aires (FADU, UBA) and its teachers, where we trained, a space that is currently going through a difficult time, to all the people who are or were part of the studio in some way and the clients who trust us. The clients who give us the space and freedom to propose and be part of the birth of their projects and brands.
