We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Rivas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, the genuine answer to this question is that it was divine inspiration.

That’s what it was, and that is what it continues to be about-a calling, a desire to inspire others; a humbling sense of fulfillment and gratitude that comes with knowing that I am doing my very best to help others.

My creativity, ideas, recipes, product names and descriptions, business plan; my whole brand, developed organically and has evolved into a beautiful and noble business that I am truly honored to represent.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Oily Mama 305: Custom Essential Oils and Organic Wellness is the name of my business.

I make a wide range of products using top quality essential oils and organic ingredients. Anything ranging from immune boosting blends, grounding, restful, focus, and respiratory blends, to sunblock, mosquito repellent, deodorant, first aid spray, a killer muscle balm, and honestly, so much more.

Prior to embarking on this journey, I was a school counselor and marriage and family therapist.
I loved my career, I loved the path that I was on and the direction I was headed.

When I became a mother, everything changed. I immediately realized and learned that I had a new purpose. With that came new desires, likes, aspirations, doubts, fears, and so, so much research.

I wanted to learn about everything that I possibly could, and make the best decisions for my new family.

I began to read labels, all of the labels, and then I looked into the ingredients in all of those labels, and quickly realized that a large majority of our food, household products, water, and medicines weren’t very .safe.

So, I began to create. I started to make a lot of the products that you’d buy at the store-except, I was able
To make them without all of the toxic ingredients and additives.

I began using all of the products on myself and my family. For years, I would give them away to friends and relatives as gifts or healing aids whenever someone had an ailment that I had a product for… and, they worked!

My business was born four years ago. I am completely invested in nurturing and continuing to further develop my business. I have a great support system and true believers in my brand. My customers are extremely loyal, supportive, and grateful for my work, and I am humbled by their feedback.

across my business is that I will continue to provide the safest and purest products for them and their loved ones.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have quite a few favorite spots in Miami. I absolutely love the beach. The ocean has my heart, so sunny isles beach would certainly be one of my stops.

I love plants, so I would absolute visit a few nurseries, gardens, and farms.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love tacos and dancing, and Coyo Taco has both.

I am A huge music lover!
Listening to Live music is one of my favorite experiences. I love to see artists in their element and expressing their talents.

Roller Skating is one of my favorite past times and has recently made its way back into my life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am extremely fortunate to have such a large support system when it comes to my business.

My husband, my parents, my cousin, my two children, and a few of my closest girlfriends are truly my biggest fans and most importantly, are true believers in my products and in my brand.
