We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Mallow, PT, DPT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
What matters most to me is providing women with high quality care for their pelvic health needs. Being in the field for several years has taught me that many other places subscribe to over-booking therapists’ schedules, using cookie cutter approaches for each patient, and simply not taking the time to hear a patient’s story. The sad truth is that many women are still dismissed or not taken serious when they bring up concerns to their healthcare providers. This lack of validation creates emotional distress and discourages women from disclosing their symptoms, leaving many to suffer in silence. I founded Restore Pelvic Health & Rehab to provide the exact opposite. Women come to me with very personal and intimate concerns and therefore should be given time to talk and get their questions answered. They have a right to consistent care with the same highly qualified professional, without being passed on to support staff. And most importantly, at Restore we individualize every single visit to the person in front of us. This, to me, is quality healthcare. This should be the norm everywhere.

What should our readers know about your business?
I opened Restore Pelvic Health & Rehab in December 2020 with the hope of making a difference for women in South Florida. I started in a 170 sq ft room and after six months, moved to a 1,500 sq ft clinic that has three private treatment rooms, a room for exercise, and a beautiful reception area. We pride ourselves on giving each patient dedicated time to understand their symptoms and how we can improve their quality of life. Each visit is at least 60-minutes long, with 2-hr treatment options available as well. We provide each person the tools to help them progress at home in between visits and individualize each care plan and visit to the person’s needs. It’s been truly amazing to see so many people have their lives changed completely after receiving pelvic floor therapy. Our mission is to help women know that there is help out there and there are highly trained professionals who truly care about getting them better and will take the time to make that happen. We are also proud to announce that this summer we initiated our pediatric program and are now seeing children ages 0-17 years old. This is a very underserved population, especially in South Florida. We work with families to help them support their child’s needs and create kid-friendly treatment plans that allow the child to feel empowered and in control of their symptoms and body.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love all of the restaurants on “The Avenue” in Delray and my family and I love to support locally owned businesses as well. There are so many great places to choose from but I’d have to say that my all time favorite restaurant is Tramonti’s. A must-see is the beautiful clear water and tropical fish at Peanut Island. My family and I enjoy snorkeling and spending time in the water and on South Florida’s beautiful beaches.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, my husband, Chris, has been my biggest support through my career in PT and opening my own practice. He has always encouraged me to push myself beyond my comfort level and believed in what I had hoped to create with my practice. I’m not sure I would have taken the leap if it hadn’t been for him and I’m so grateful for his ongoing support, love, and encouragement. I also owe some of my success to my former boss and mentor Yves Joseph. He hired me for my first outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine position back in Baltimore Maryland and what always stayed with me was his belief in me. He entrusted me with many responsibilities at the clinic and pushed me to take on more leadership roles over time. He would always go out of his way to help a patient who needed to be seen and was a wonderful mentor who really helped me to develop my clinic skills. I use my orthopedic background on a daily basis with my pelvic floor patients and will often think of him and what he has taught me.
