We had the good fortune of connecting with Virginie Alavera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Virginie, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
What I think I have done or at least doing for my son is to show him is that whatever the job, it must be done with passion. You have to love what you do, do it well and if you work with people do it with respect. And Always trying to be the best of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
. I have always love to make people feeling beautiful and happier. I start working very young in lyon (france) I have the chance to work with talented people. I was part of an artistic team where I was able to practice my passion . And then I came to settle in the USA. Hairdressing for me is an art but above all a state of mind. I think a lot of people can cut hair but few can create feelings. I have an open mind and i have always respected different styles . I like to see my clients happy by discovering a new style that makes them feel beautiful and sexy. I like the woman who gets ready but also the natural beauty of a long wavy hair People trust me and feel comfortable in my seat, a place where they can be themselves. After all these years I have finally opened my little corner of paradise. My first salon/boutique which is located in the very beautiful place of Miami Ironside. A very cool concept where you can receive the best care while doing a little shopping of my creations.(Jewelry, clothing,ect..)

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You have to go for an artwalk in Wynwood and also Design District to see the amazing art on the walls, its everywhere . It is a really cool place ,very busy at night with a large choice of restaurants and bars. The beaches in south beach are superb and also a lot of fun, those in south pointe a little quieter but it is absolutely necessary to visit south pointe park and have a drink at Smith & Wollensky . Its a beautiful place where you can watch the ships leaving miami and enjoying the sunset. The beaches of North Beach are definitely more family-friendly. Key Biscayne has beautiful beaches you can also visit the lighthouse and eat fresh fish or make friend with a raccoon in the park. Coconut grove for its great parks , excellent restaurants and its vintage vibe. You have to go to Brickell and downtown miami . There are plenty of great restaurants, bars and shopping . The nightlife is insane and everybody goes there. I will recommend to go to the everglades. There is only few places like this in the world Miami has a lot to offer and probably a week will not be enough . There is so much to see.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I have always being a free spirit and my family allowed me to become who I am very young but especially I had the chance to know my passion quite early in life. My life took a turn after the loss of my father. I have a great spirituality and i think we attract the souls that are meant for us. I felt a strong desire to not disappoint him after his passing. The book many lifes many master from Brian Weiss has helped me a lot. Today I am extremely grateful for my family and entourage . I believe without them in my life i will not achieve half of what i have done so far.
