We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivían Guadamuz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vivían, how has your work-life balance changed over time?

Now that I have a daughter, it has definitely changed. Whereas before it was just my husband and I. My time was very flexible, and I would take on clients whenever I had a chance. Now it’s much more strict, there are days and times dedicated solely for work and others for my home.

I genuinely love what I do, so naturally I don’t view what I do for a living as work, and therefore, I am guilty of overworking myself, and putting my health second. I get so excited with what I’m working on at the moment, that I don’t want to stop until it’s finished. My mind is always on the go. So along the way I’ve had to learn how to manage my time more efficiently and slow down so that I don’t compromise my health. Now my mindset is more of, I need to take care of my health so that I’m able to perform at my highest potential, whether at home or at work.

Achieving balance is something that we will forever be working on. When I say we I mean my husband and I. It is an ongoing process, a way of life for us and life often times gets disorganized and messy so we constantly have to come back and clean it up a bit to regain balance and clarity. Also, precisely because we are business owners, and we enjoy what we do , we are constantly putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations that require us to not only, adapt quickly but also, to find balance within our lives quickly, and that includes every aspect of our lives, Self, Health, Family and Work.

Presently, I’m still adapting to being a mom, it’s a day by day learning experience. I haven’t quite achieved the balance I would like to have, but I’m definitely setting up the pieces on the board to get there. That includes making sure I get adequate rest, and incorporating physical activity, even if it’s just walking. The nature of my work requires me to be sitting for the vast majority of hours in a day so it is essential for me to incorporate movement in my daily living, all while also scaling my business to new levels with new services and a growing team of individuals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love tacos so I would definitely get tacos from Tacos & Tattoos or from El Primo Red Tacos. I also love dining at Chef Adrianne’s, Perricone’s, or any new restaurants. As far as things to do, needless to say the beach during the day time and night is a must. It’s a different vibe depending on the time of day. For sure catching a movie, as long as it’s not scary, and playing pool. If any of our favorite artists are in town, going to a concert is always fun. Marc Anthony is on my bucket list, I’ve heard his concerts are amazing. Attending a basketball game and one of the comedy shows at the Miami Improv is also a must, in my opinion. Those are some of my favorite things to do, but it’s Miami, there’s always something going on or something new to do or try so the options are honestly endless.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people! I can’t just name one because they all together have helped me along the way. My husband, Anthony, for helping me view things in a different perspective every time. My parents, for instilling in me what it means to be responsible, accountable, detail oriented and that everything and anything requires dedication. My siblings, friends and clients for always referring me and supporting me at every stage of my business. Sean and Lisandra from The Brow Effect for creating a learning platform where other business owners actually learn the skills and strategies necessary to take their business to the next level. I’m an avid reader so there’s so many books I can recommend but two of the books that I took a lot from and are the first to come to mind are The 5am Club By Robin Sharma and Rich Woman: A book on investing for women because I hate being told what to do By Kim Kiyosaki
