Hi Vonisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The birth of my daughter, Aaliyah was the turning point and the inspiration for starting my company. My daughter has very sensitive skin and it was a daunting task trying to find the right product that would work best for her skin type. After researching and trying various products on the market for years, I became motivated to find natural ingredients that would provide some relief for her. This quest lead me to develop natural body oils that would address her skin condition and help others. Pieces of Paris Aaliyah was created in 2019 and formally incorporated in the city of Miami Gardens in 2020. Everything after that, is what I would call “God’s plan.” There are people all over the world who have probably tried everything on the market, and probably feel hopeless just like I did. My thoughts from the very beginning was how cool would it be to meet new people who I could help with their skin and body issues and also become someone who could inspire them to take their self care serious. Now that’s a goal!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional career is in the healthcare industry. I have worked for one of the top healthcare companies in the world for almost 10 years. I started out in our customer service department where I learned how to deliver excellent customer service to consumers. I climbed the corporate ladder and was promoted to other departments where I landed my current role as an provider relations advocate. Hence, the word advocate because I fight for my doctors every single day to make sure their experience with my job is top tier. This role combined with my training in customer service allows me to see things from a consumer and business side. Yes, I sell skincare but I also want to sell an experience and lifestyle. Of course there are days where it gets challenging but I always stay focused on solutions whether than the problems. I have learned that you have to treat people how you want to be treated. I am passionate about anything I put my name on, you can expect honesty, integrity, and transparency when you purchase anything from my business. I am here for the long haul so I am slowly creating my footprint in this business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is such a fun place. You can catch me at the hottest brunch spots on Sundays. My favorite is The Cave, Brimstone, and American Social. Tootsies has such great food, I go there for the food lol. I love having drinks at Rickey’s Sports Bar and Bar Rita in Ft. Lauderdale. Aventura mall is the best mall for shopping because of its diversity. South Beach is a great place to meet people all over the world, its a one stop shop for drinking, eating, water sports, clubbing, and relaxing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give my life partner/ my husband a shoutout. David has motivated me to be the very best version of myself. He reminds me how amazing I am and how I could do anything I put my mind too. He believes in me and has invested just as much into this flourishing business, that is best gift he could ever give me.
