We had the good fortune of connecting with Walter Navarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Walter, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
We are inspired by the idea of taking care of others in the best way possible. Creating delicious food for people to enjoy is what drives us to do what we do on a daily basis.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sidewalk Diner was created with the goal of providing our guests with delicious food in an unconventional setting using exciting techniques.

Through years of working together with some of the best operators in the industry I was able to gather knowledge and experience in all aspects of what it means to operate restaurants. Our restaurants are composed of the people who work there and our guests come join us daily. Creating a welcoming establishment where your guests feel comfortable, and taken care of is what we strive for daily.

The craft of creating memorable experiences for guests that allow them to come back is a challenge but building a place that can do that is extremely rewarding. Together with Guido and David, we all pull from our previous experiences to help curate the best guest experience.

Our goal at Sidewalk Diner is to create a delicious food menu that compliments our extensive wine list and keeps our guests excited to come back often.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would encourage my best friend to do the following things..

Eating:
To start, the best places in town for bagels is Chesapeake Bagel Bakery just north of Fort Lauderdale. Can’t start your trip without a good BEC. Another spot which is great for a solid meal is Josh’s Deli in Surfside.

Some of my favorite lunch spots are Taqueria el Paisa which is right next to I-95 on Davie Blvd. Perfect literal hole in the wall, with some of the best tacos in town.

Night time is where we love to have fun here. Visiting our friends over at The Katherine here in Fort Lauderdale is a must. We aim to do this as much as we can, but we take the Brightline down to Miami and go visit our friends over at Jaguar Sun for the most decadent pastas and crudos.

Drinking: South Florida is a drinking town, we love being outdoors and enjoying delicious cocktails and other beverages. Starting here in Fort Lauderdale, you can always find us at Roxanne’s it’s easily our favorite local watering hole to come unwind after a shift. We love drinking some of our favorites wines here at Sidewalk Bottleshop.

Also, when you find us down in Miami you can find us at Swizzle Rum Bar where we enjoy one of our favorite drinks, El gaucho. A perfect of Dulce de leche washed santa Teresa rum, fernet ,angostura and coffee.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Sidewalk Diner was created out of an abundance of love for all things hospitality. Sidewalk Diner’s menu is created by Chef Guido Parodi. Together alongside David Lopez, and Guido Parodi, we put together an ever evolving menu that focuses on food which is delicious and wholesome.
