We had the good fortune of connecting with Warren Woodberry Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Warren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I launched Millennium Magazine in 2010, I wanted to demonstrate my diverse range of media experience as well as embrace new media technology. I also wanted to offer consumers a wide range of options, that made it difficult to say no to doing business with me. In addition, as in everything I do, I strive to stand out among the crowd with impressive presentations.
What should our readers know about your business?
1. What you are most proud of or excited about?
I am always flattered by the positive commentary I receive for Millennium Magazine and how the publication has made a difference in people’s lives, giving them exposure to new audiences. That’s what I am most proud of.
2. How did you get to where you are today business-wise?
I actually started business in 1997 shortly after losing my first job after college. I did not like the idea that at any moment without notice I could be let go by an employer so I embarked to create my Plan B in the event if I ever found myself in the same situation. What started out as a nature photography business out of a few milk crates in my apartment grew into a Wall Street-based media firm dong business internationally.
3, Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Easy? No, not all. I have had many setbacks over the course of time, from job losses, to falling behind on taxes, maxing out credit cards and narrowly escaping foreclosure. But despite the odds I pressed on, believing in myself and knowing there would be a brighter future.
Gong into business can be exciting, frightening and confusing all at once. It can be overwhelming, exhausting and take downright too long to get to where you want to go.
For me, I have always been a patient and methodical person, knowing and understanding that business takes time, and that failure is part of the process. Staying the course and remaining confident helps me to accomplish my goals.
4. What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
In over 20 years of business I learned that you never reach a point where you say, ‘I’m done’. You are constantly learning and discovering new things. And me being my biggest critic, I am never truly satisfied with what I do. I always know I can do better.
5. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I decided to become a writer at age 4 after seeing Star Wars, the first move I saw in a theater back in 1977. At the end of the move I asked my big brother, ‘Who wrote it?’ and he said, ‘George Lucas,’ and said, ‘I want to be a writer one day and tell stories just as good as him’.
In grade school I would make my own books. I’d fold loose leaf paper in half, bound the pages with Elmer’s glue, then write with a No 2. pencil and draw pictures with crayons. I’d ask my teachers to read my books during story time and I enjoyed watching my classmates react to my tales.
In high school I was editor of the school paper and literary arts magazine with autonomy, a budget and staff to produce award winning publications.
Today through Millennium Magazine I create just as I have always done throughout much of my life, utilizing new technologies to take what’s on my mind and bringing my thoughts to life for the world to experience and enjoy.

Millennium Magazine is a Lifestyle & Entertainment publication with interests in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas. We featured celebrity covers with a business focus.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a native New Yorker, born and raised so I am always happy to show off my city. Love it or hate it, there is no place like it and I am proud to call this crazy place home.
Manhattan is at the center of it all. For dining and drinks check out a variety of restaurants in the Meatpacking District off 14th St. Then there is Ninth Ave, between 59th and 42nd Streets. Hudson Yards in Midtown West offers dinning, entertainment and shopping. Then there’s more shopping on Fifth Ave. between 59th St. and 34th St. for shopping.
Brooklyn is the trendiest part of the city. The urban atmosphere is the definitive scene that the world follows. From art galleries, fashion and music, if you want to be hip this is the place to be.
Queens is home to the best ethic dishes. Jackson Heights is the most diverse neighborhood in the City as well as one of the most diverse places in the US, so you literally have all the options in the world here.
You may find this hard to believe but at times I get bored living in NYC. How is that possible you say. Well being that I’ve lived here most of my life I’ve seen quite bit here and I often like to explore the neighboring states just to experience something new. I believe if you spend a lifetime here, you will never ever get to experience all that the city has to offer which always keeps it exciting and new.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Millennium Magazine would not be what it is today without the support and commitment of all those who have contributed and have been involved in its evolution over the past 13 years.
