We had the good fortune of connecting with Westtopher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Westtopher, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Establishing good habits in the beginning, to do anything is very important. Habits that helped me reach certain goals and get into the industry as a music producer was “consistency” and “willing to learn”. Consistency is very important in the music industry, we don’t take you serious if they don’t see consistent content on your social media handles. The more people see you active they are going to buy into your brand or product.
Willing to learn is the most important to me. You should never get to a space where you feel like you know it all.
Specially with technology and new software coming out every year. It’s also something you can learn in the industry, of how to make your workflow easier or enhancing your sound. Even along with taking advise from seasoned Music figures. Such as Cool n Dre for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My production sound and song writing skills have been compared to Kanye West mainly, which is a good person to be compared to. However I’ve created my own sound and style.

I think what sets me apart is my creative ear to hear a record different and sample it to a way, no one would expect it to be flip.

I got to where I’am today by just be consistent and not giving up on myself. It’s so easy to give up, when life gets in the way.
My journey was not easy at all. Specially with all the people now doing music. The challenges I faced at times was getting able to get up and travel to other cities. Back when my daughter was young it wasn’t easy to pick up and hit the road. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is build relationships with people are key. You never know who can put you in position to receive your next blessing.

I want the world to know when they push play on my music, it’s always going to be enlightening to your ears. Making you want to hear more and more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So with me living in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. It’s not a lot to do for the most part. However, I would take them uptown for a cool place with a good scenery of the city and grab dinner and drinks. We would hit a few sights and breweries through out the week. Maybe hit a Baseball or basketball game. Depending on what time of the year it was. Which I would recommend them coming in the spring or summer. Far as Charlotte the most exciting places to go would be Southend for different restaurants and shops. Along with uptown for viewing shops and museums.
