We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Noveck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was working for a large test prep organization and I was deviating from their rules because I found some of them to be counterproductive. At a certain point I got “caught” and I can remember arguing with my superior about how all I was trying to do was to get better results for our customers and, as you can imagine, this did not go very well. It was a frustrating meeting and I remember thinking to myself “I never want to be in a position ever again where I get yelled at for trying to do a great job.”
It was obvious to me at that point that it was time to go to work for myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I host and produce the podcast: The Wolf Who Cried Women, which is all about sex, love and romance. There are an endless amount of podcasts on this topic but ours, out of all of them, is truly the most honest.
If you listen to podcasts about sex, dating, relationships, etc, it becomes obvious pretty quickly that most people are very very afraid of really getting into the specifics of what happened – either because they feel like it is not appropriate or because they don’t want to come off looking bad or maybe making anyone else look bad.
Our podcast is extremely “warts and all.” People are consistently shocked by the level of vulnerability, honesty, and transparency in terms of what we discuss.
Episode 41b is all about one of us discussing years of sexual dysfunction. Episode 54 is about one of us talking about how PTSD led us to do things we are ashamed and disgusted by.
And then of course, a lot of our episodes are just really funny, which is great too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is kind of a strange answer because it is a bit of a tourist trap but I love the energy on Calle Ocho. I just think it is a really fun street to hang out on and just goof around on. It has a vibe that you will not find anywhere else.
I like Brickell and Puroast coffee in Brickell is definitely my favorite coffeeshop in Miami. I have a soft spot for Greynolds park. I think Threefold Cafe in Coral Gables is the perfect brunch spot and you can actually head to Books & Books right after that.
One thing that I have not done yet that I really really really want to do is to watch Jai Alai in person. That is a real “only in Miami” thing if you ask me.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my partner in life, Vanessa Smith-Torres (of Perkins + Will ,Miami), the entire board at SoFloNoma for the incredible work they do and my partner in podcasting, Evan Wolf and everyone at Lazarus Ansi
