We had the good fortune of connecting with Yaadcore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yaadcore, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is Rastafari which is a spiritual calling and staying true myself. The Success of my brand is still a growing tree but it has allowed me to travel all over the world and being a spiritual inspiration to everyone who encounters my creative work.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is my work ethic and a realistic overstanding of where I am in my career. Most proud about staying true to my self and to see that the people are connecting to the energy. My journey into being an artist started from being a DJ in high school, not much longer after I found Rastafari which later lead me to stop playing dancehall and derogatory music, sticking with strictly roots and reggae, a conscious vibration. After being Protoje’s DJ for a few years, I came up with idea to start a roots reggae event called Dubwise Jamaica after having to play at Kingston Dub Club for a Year once a month. Debuting with my first production in 2018 with Kabaka Pyramid & Shanique Marie, one year later I debuted my first single Ready Now which lead me to where I am today. Definitely wasn’t a easy road, was a lot of ups and downs, many sacrifices. Staying true to yourself is the key in overcoming the challenges. Greatest lesson is to stay humble even when you are on top because you can loose everything in a second. Rastafari is the mystic, I was named after Rory from Stone Love and the journey has lead us to become colleagues which is definitely a miracle to I knowing none of this was planned but destiny.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely get some street pan roasted fish, and boiled corn. Ital vegetarian spots would definitely be on the list. Hellshire or Alligator Pond for more seafood. The Reggaelizer & Kingston Dub Club would be the spots for Reggae vibration. River vibes at Pretty Close 876 & To Negril in country for some beach vibes.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to Haile Selassie I firstly for helping me to find my self on a deeper level, shoutout my father for having a sound system which exposed me to the culture from a young age, shoutout Supa Hype the first person I linked with in music that lived in Kingston, I am from Mandeville. Shoutout to Protoje for believing in me to be his DJ which gave me a lot of exposure as well. Shoutout to the Delicious Vinyl Island & Element Music Group for believing in the artist journey at a young stage after making the transition from a DJ
