We had the good fortune of connecting with Yahima Morejon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yahima, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Personalization. I am an attorney, and we are pretty busy people. However, I make time to speak to my clients, to answer their questions, and to be on top of their cases. Most of them appreciate the one on one interaction because they are used to be just “one more file” in another law firm. Legal proceedings are expensive, and I like to put myself in my client’s shoes; if I am paying a lot of money to solve my problem, I would like to know how it works. That is why my firm’s motto is: Your problem, is our problem.

What should our readers know about your business?
I was born and raised in Cuba. I moved to Miami at 25 years old, after working for two years in Havana, as a Criminal Attorney. I always say that I like to argue, and if I don’t argue in court, I have to argue at home, and none wants that. So as soon as I got to Miami, I started studying again to obtain my JD. In 2017 I passed the Florida Bar and I decided to open my own law firm. My main focus is immigration law. I want it to help others like me in this country to reach their goal and make their dreams come true. We also work in the areas of Family Law (because, again, I like to argue), Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, and General Civil. I want to expand to other areas such as Personal Injury and Entertainment Law, the last one in particular seems fascinating.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is such an interesting city, with so much culture, and different nationalities. I definitely take them to the Wynwood and the Midtown area. Is so chick and hipster around there. We will probably just eat in one of the many restaurants they have over there. I have come to love the Colombian and Venezuela cuisine, so I will take them to get arepas as well around the Doral area. Walking Calle 8 is a must! And trying the Cuban food in one the small, family-owned restaurants around is the best way to show them how Cubans have adapted so well to this country. Finally, Bayside and Miami Beach for my sea-lovers and party-goes. You cannot leave Miami without partying!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! They are everything to me. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true. If things at home are not good, your life will be unbalanced. The love and support of my family members are what have made me the person that I am today.
