We had the good fortune of connecting with Yailyn Felipe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yailyn, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am Cuban American. I was born and raised in Broward county Florida. My background and upbringing has impacted who I am today because of the people around me. I am surrounded by culture and diversity which is why I love to meet new people and try foods from all around the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of where I am today. I’ve grown so much within the last couple of years and learned how to market and advertise my brand. My pictures are also 10x better now than before. During the holidays I sold some desserts as a test trial and it went really well. I received some awesome feedback and I do want to continue to sell more desserts/ dishes in the near future. It’s not always easy trying to reach your goals but if you write them down, visualize and act on them you will reach them. TheFoodGlo will continue to grow and thank you to everyone who is supporting me along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come visit and the weather is nice we definitely visit the park and usually have picnics there. A few in the area are tree tops, wolf lake and vista view park. Also Haulover beach is nice. They have a dog park and skatepark all in one area. They also have food trucks every Tuesday from 5p-9:30p. For dinner or drinking options the Las Olas strip is great, also glitch bar in ft lauderdale is a cool drinking spot with different kinds of games. We also love going to coffee shops like the alchemist (north Miami), the groves (Davie) and all day (Miami). The Miami design district and Wynwood are also some fun hangout spots and have food options as well. Some of my favorite spots in wynwood are Kush, coyo taco and 1800 lucky.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my boyfriend for always supporting my brand and my ideas. Shoutout to my friends and family who have shaped me into who I am today. Shoutout to the foodies all around me. We keep each other motivated and support one another. Also shout out to @foodienetworkfla for having me as a part of their team!
