We had the good fortune of connecting with Yami & Tina Correa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yami & Tina, how do you think about risk?
We deeply believe that with high risk there will be high reward. Opening a company is a risk from any way you look at it. You have to show up everyday, continuously invest time and resources, and do whatever it takes to make it work. Risk has taken a big role for us this past year, as we started our company teaching cooking classes from our backyard. Due to Covid we decided to take the risk of coming out with our first product ever, our Coconut Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate. A product that caught more attention than anticipated and has brought us to the biggest risk our personal and professional life has yet taken. Picking up all of our things and moving to NYC.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There are a handful of coffee concentrates on the market, but most are made from unsustainable ingredients, contain added sugars or other artificial ingredients, are harsh on your digestive system, or contain preservatives to make them shelf-stable. Our goal is to introduce a healthier, tastier, and fresher alternative to a wider market. Our cold brew is always ready for you when you need it. The coconut water and coconut chips give our coffee a unique sweetness and caramel/chocolate flavor, avoiding the need to add any sugar or syrups.
We are still a growing company, and it has not been easy at any point. There have been so many challenges throughout our process and it has been key to have each other as a reminder to enjoy the ride. The biggest lesson we have learned is to put our head down while keeping our eyes forward.
We are two sisters born in Venezuela, raised in Miami, and now based in New York City. Today, we are the proud owners and founders of The SisterYard. Our website provides access to our delicious brew, virtual dinner parties, tells the story of our adventures, and our intuitive and sustainable business practices.
All it takes is a couple crazy people who want to choose what’s in their everyday cup of coffee. It takes two people who not only care about quality ingredients but also about where those ingredients are sourced from. We strive, and will continue to be, an honest company that cares about making products worth your while as well as the planet’s.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Aside from the unconditional support we have received from our family. One of our younger siblings Euti, has been lifting the heavy weight of running our Miami operations, dropping off samples/deliveries and checking into our cafe accounts. We cannot be prouder of all the love and effort he has been putting towards The SisterYard.
We are also lucky to have been connected with Robby & Stacy Harding from Plate & Glass. The sweetest, most loving couple and business partners we have ever met. They are a strong power house and our mentors. Their trust, support and dedication have given us more confidence to keep pursuing all our crazy but attainable goals & ideas.
