We had the good fortune of connecting with Yamila Ayala and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yamila, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My Business helps young minds and older minds grow emotionally and socially through music and therapeutic practices. My goal is to always provide a safe space for little musicians to be their most authentic self, without fear of judgement from others. Music helps with cognitive and social growth especially with little humans. I also provide therapy to the older generation, and it takes them back to a time where things were care free. Its truly one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever had the pleasure to witness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My creative purpose is to use music as a tool to help others at any age. What sets me apart from others is my passion for helping people, and my patience to guide young and older minds alike to see the benefits that music has to offer to the human condition. I am most proud of my development as a Musician and Educator. Through all the hardships in my life, music has been my saving grace. I’ve lost many people in my life along the way, so what helps me push through is knowing that they wouldn’t want to see me sad, they wouldn’t want me to be a lesser version of myself for anyone else. I am the fullest version of myself because the world deserves to feel my passions in full throttle. I learned my own method of showing music through just being in the fire. I’ve never had formal classes in music education, I just learned through doing it. My students have truly been my greatest teachers in my life thus far. It wasn’t easy at all at times. Applying all methods of teaching (Visual, Audio, and Touch) has been my development as a music educator.
I want the world to know my artistry, not just through my educational and therapeutic practices, but I also want the world to know my sound. I sing professionally on a consistent basis, mainly with my three part harmony girl group “The Rhythm Chicks” and on my own accord, I also play Piano, Clarinet, Flute, and Saxophone. With everything that I know, I use all of my strengths to help others in anyway I can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Places to hear the best live music would be “Ball and Chain”, I have the best memories dancing there to the live salsa music. “Lagniappe”, where there also fine wine and foods. You can also check out concerts at “The Arsht Center”. Most of the time there’s usually live music at the PAMM museum also. Living in Hollywood FL, I enjoy taking people I love to Downtown Hollywood to catch not only live music, but also some of the best food spots I’ve been to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to the place that started my Music Education journey in the first place and that is Kendall Conservatory Of Music. I’ve been teaching music there for about 7 years. I realized over time that showing music to others in a multitude of ways is my life’s purpose. I also want to shoutout to an organization that I work for, and that is “Teeny Violini” led by one of my Mentors Portia Dunkley, we go to Preschools and VPK centers to show them the wonders of music, through the methodology of the “Colorful Violin”. This organization has ignited my love for showing music to the younger generation, as young as 1-5 years of age. Its truly been one of the best experiences of my life thus far. Lastly, I want to shoutout to my Musical Mentor, who believes in my abilities more than anyone I’ve met, and that is Jose Negroni. He’s a Latin Grammy Award winning Latin Jazz Pianist, he’s been my musicial mentor for about 6 years, he’s given me all the tools needed to know music to its fullest, and how to play piano to the best of my abilities.
