We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanette Mantro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yanette, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
You shouldn’t give up until you accomplish what you are looking for. Giving up is one of the biggest reason we don’t success sometimes. We give up because we can’t handle doing it any longer. We lose the passion we once had. My passion still burns for writing and for the side hustle of selling handmade crafts. I’m not ready to give up. If you have no passion left, then I say let go. Because without that passion, you won’t want to move forward. Find the passion in what you love, not what others want you to love.

With my crafts I try to create pieces that draw you into wanting one. My combinations of colors or glitter can be unique. I like to make book related tumblers that have book covers and pages on them. Getting into making crafts was pretty easy when I wanted a cup but needed it to be unique. I wanted my book cover on it, along with my pages. At the time I saw someone with a cute cup and started looking up tutorials on youtube. Then, the magic happen and I succeeded after my 2nd cup. As an Author it is still difficult for me. I don’t sell my self too well. But after the pandemic I realized no company is going to care about me the way I will care about myself. So, little by little I started to edit book 2 and get myself back on the writing wagon. I started to believe in me and understand that I needed to learn to show my work off to others and be confident about it. People need to know that I am human and I will have my set backs. I will make stupid mistakes and I will probably not care too much about it. My work is fun to me and that is what I am. Fun, loving, caring and a goof. Nothing can be perfect and I will not pretend to be either. My brand is me and what I like. I hope that people will see the outgoing spirit I carry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am not someone who goes out much, but from time to time I love to visit XTREME ACTION PARK. Gaming is a big YES in my house. In door sky diving is something that I have always wanted to do and would definitely recommend doing it. We would go to many ramen bowl and sea food boil restaurants to eat. Cooperhawks would also be a great place to do wine tasting with great food. Painting with a twist, where you can eat and drink wine while you paint your best or worst master piece. Of course I would throw in a book store visit, because it is a must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Michelle Leighton, a Author. She was someone who answered my questions when I went on this quest to write my heart out. Alessandra Torre Inkers Group on facebook. Alessandra Torre is a Author as well and created this group where authors from all over can come in and ask questions and get answers without feeling insecure. As for my crafting small business side. I say I give a huge thanks to Little Lee and Rose Group on facebook as well. That group is amazing and taught me how to make the crafts I make today.
