We had the good fortune of connecting with Yeselth Angarita Peña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yeselth, how do you think about risk?
Sometimes taking risks in life is necessary to grow. I like to see risks as big opportunities to leave everything behind and reinvent, transform my life.

In 2014, I was living in Venezuela with the protests and socioeconomic and political conflicts that led me to moving to a space and environment full of new opportunities and diverse communities to develop myself and my work. In the individual phase of my analytics work, I like to risk my ego and perspective about the methodologies for the management, data analysis, analytics, and visualizations, affirming the courage and strength that takes to navigate new paths while simultaneously discovering my internal potential. Each project is assembled as a puzzle. After understanding the challenge, audience, and data, I apply data science methodologies, such as ETL, to drive the flow of the project. Then, I develop an algorithm in SQL or Python to manage the data. For example, I can pull the data from BigQuery to Google Looker Studio using SQL. This workflow enables me to create a dynamic and interactive dashboard to support business decision-making processes of stakeholders and leadership.

In my recent experiences, transforming my life has been a synonym of knowing myself better, being vulnerable, really working on my weaknesses, and consistently developing my ability to deeply connect with other interesting humans globally.

I have come to realize that cultivating meaningful connections and engaging in collaborative endeavors while leveraging data development and visualizations fosters an environment where I can express myself freely, that reflects on my ability to dynamically collaborate and share my ideas and vision in team projects about contributing to the continuous betterment of society.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Business Operations Analyst at Berlin Designs Corporate Division, Inc. I express myself in a strategic and systematic way.

Through my personal projects, I actively engage in requirements gathering, data management, analytics, and visualizations. I utilize tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Looker Studio, and BigQuery to develop impactful solutions that drive informed business decision-making processes. Collaborating with stakeholders and leadership throughout these personal projects has been invigorating, and a way to perceive, think, and interpret reality differently.

Most of my work is that of a Data Analyst. Here, you can notice insights about my latest personal project:

Are you planning to go to New York City and include a bicycle adventure? or do you want to ride a bicycle and enjoy the landscape on your way to work? Some stations show that there are bicycles available when they are not, making tourists more confused, and employees in NYC get frustrated and decide to take the train instead and possibly be late for work.

I developed this personal project using BigQuery’s NYC Citi Bike Stations and NYC Citi Bike Trips public datasets to create an interactive dashboard.

In this dashboard, I used SQL queries to pull some information and created plots on Google Looker Studio. The goal is to facilitate the analysis and agile/strategic decision-making process of employees and tourists. These analyses and visualizations are based on popular starting/ending stations by gender, top 5 starting/ending combination stations, popular times on weekdays/weekends, and capacity by station. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eYKryxDs

This dashboard provides insights about historical trips data from April 12, 2017, to September 20, 2018, and real-time stations data from January 26, 2023, to the present.

It is a small visualization/tool to facilitate the decision-making process and experience of tourists and employees in NYC, which could be integrated into the NYC Citi Bike app or Lyft app to support internal business, operations, and marketing systems.

This year has actually been really productive for me, as I’ve been actively involved in developing interactive dashboards that consistently keep me engaged.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Boca Raton, a lively city nestled along Florida’s southeast coast. It is a great spot between Miami and Jupiter, making it a hub for exciting adventures. If any of my adventurous friends, whose preferences I’m well aware of, were to visit, I’d plan an unforgettable itinerary packed with thrilling water activities, breathtaking sky-high experiences, and captivating visual delights. Imagine this: invigorating 10k runs through Miami’s bustling streets, mesmerizing clear kayaking trips with Get Up and Go in Jupiter, pushing our limits with indoor rock climbing at Project Rock in Fort Lauderdale, and taking the plunge with an adrenaline-pumping skydiving session in San Sebastian. We’d also immerse ourselves in the vibrant world of interactive art at the mind-blowing Superblue Miami museum. Of course, we’d make time for relaxing beach outings, indulge in mouthwatering cuisine at waterfront eateries, and savor the stunning sunsets in Deerfield Beach. And let’s not forget starting our mornings right with a scrumptious Nutella croissant and a steaming cup of cappuccino at the charming Boulangerie in Boca Raton. There’s a ton to do in and around Boca Raton, FL, so I would tell my friend to get ready for an action-packed journey filled with incredible experiences!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A special super shout out to Ana Luisa Guruceaga, who inspired me to make this and other publications to share my story. To Ricardo Echeverria for his support and fun and valuable conversations in many areas of life. To Yelitza Chacon for her charisma, support, and ability to listen, guide, leadership, and authenticity. To Omar Hernandez for consistently believing in me and the development of my abilities. To Alessandra Casanova for her empathy and humility that, even though we are adults, understanding, questioning, and sharing everyday things and human relationships in deep discussion is not foolishness but rather an opportunity and a skill to build deep, genuine connections. And to all those I do not name here but have been part of my journey. Thank you!
