Meet Yesenia Figueroa | Make up artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yesenia Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yesenia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to start in the 20 20 and be willing to change and I had the hope inside my heart that it could be something bigger than being all day working for someone
I got this crazy idea of learning something different from what I was used to with a lot of fear with a lot of uncertainty and I did it and a new beginning began in my life

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My story is one of reinvention and courage. I come from the world of makeup and art, a passion that I always wore in my heart, but life presented me with a different opportunity that completely changed my perspective. Now I work in the tourism area and I am also enhancing my social networks, combining my artistic creativity with new business skills.
What differentiates us is precisely that unique mixture: the artistic eye that I developed in makeup allows me to create attractive visual content and tourist experiences that go beyond the conventional. I contribute a creative sensitivity to an industry that can sometimes be very technical.
I am proud to have had the courage to leave my comfort zone. It was not easy to leave something I knew as well as makeup to venture into unknown territory. But I am even more proud to have heard that inner voice that told me that there was something more for me, something different to explore.
I’ll be completely honest: it hasn’t been an easy road and I’m not yet where I want to be. But the important thing is that I already left the place where I didn’t want to be. There was a moment in my life when I felt that I was stagnant, doing the same as always, and when this opportunity appeared in tourism, despite the fear and enormous uncertainty I felt, I decided to open the door.
The biggest challenge has been mental. Going from being “the makeup artist” to venturing into tourism meant facing the fear of failure, the insecurity of not knowing enough, the uncertainty of whether I was making the right decision. Some days the doubt was overwhelming. But I decided to see fear as a sign that I was growing, not as a reason to stay still.
The biggest lesson is that it’s okay not to have everything solved. It’s okay to be in process, in transition, in construction. I learned that opening the mentality is not just a beautiful phrase; it is an act of courage that requires you to let go of the known to embrace the unknown.
I want them to know that you don’t have to have everything solved to start. You don’t have to be an expert to take the first step. My story is that of someone who had the courage to listen to a different opportunity, open their mentality and bet on growth, even with fear.
I’m in the process, I’m learning, I’m building something new every day. Success is not always reaching the goal; sometimes it is simply having the courage to change direction when your heart tells you that there is something else waiting for you.
For anyone who is at a similar crossroads: it’s okay to feel afraid, it’s okay not to know exactly where you’re going. The important thing is not to stay in a place that no longer serves you. Sometimes the next chapter begins when you have the courage to close the previous one.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, and I’m excited to be able to talk about this because my story is woven with the support of incredible people.
First, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my closest friends, who have been my unconditional support system. They have supported me in every moment of doubt, they have celebrated every little victory with me and they have reminded me who I am when I myself forgot it. Their love and trust have been the fuel I needed to dare to make this leap towards independent entrepreneurship.
I also want to recognize my current partners and collaborators, who not only believed in my vision but decided to build it with me. Working with people who share your values and your passion for creating something meaningful is a gift that I do not take for granted. His professionalism, creativity and dedication have elevated every aspect of this project.
I can’t help but mention all the people who, in different ways, have decided to support this new business. From clients who trusted us from day one, to mentors who shared their wisdom, to family members who believed in this dream even when it seemed impossible.
Every encouraging conversation, every valuable advice, every sign of trust has been a fundamental piece in this construction. My success is not only mine; it is the result of a community of extraordinary people who decided to bet on something bigger than ourselves.
To all of you: thank you for being part of this story that is just beginning.
