Meet Yiseo Noh | Painter& teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yiseo Noh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yiseo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve been drawing since I was little, but I didn’t have much money to make as an artist at the time, so I did other jobs together. But when the pandemic started, I couldn’t work, and on the contrary, I focused more on painting. and this has better results.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I draw inspiration from Korean emotions and traditional arts that I saw and felt when I was a child. I describe my painting as a process of building an imaginary paradise, and what makes it special is that it is sustainable. Just as a city is being built, my inspiration does not dry out and my imagination continues to be driven by each other’s needs. It was not easy for me to make as much money as possible from the beginning as an artist, and then I worked as a painter by teaching people how to draw. It was not easy at first, but rather, communicating with people gave me confidence in my job.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many beautiful places in Korea. I want to recommend too many, but first of all, since I am an artist, I would like to recommend several museums, galleries, and art fairs in Korea. And did you know that BTS loves art? If you’re lucky, you might even meet them. I have the same experience. There are big art fairs in Korea in April and September. And if you go to Samcheong-dong, there are many Korean restaurants and old buildings. And you can borrow a nice hanbok and walk the streets. I also recommend this experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been doing my career as a painter so far with the help of so many people. First of all, this may be a very cliche story, but I am a mother. Her mother has been battling cancer for quite some time since I was a child. But he continued to support me to not give up on my dream. Second, when I was in high school, I was very impressed with two books, the poem Albatross from Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist and Baudelaire’s Poems The Flower of Evil. These two books gave me a glimpse of the attitude I should have as an artist as a child.
