We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda (Yoli) De La Mora and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, my business is Everything Yoli which is the parent to my companies SHEcorp and The Nervy Girl Foundation. Everything Yoli encompasses ALL the things I love, have passion for and live for.
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was a teen mom so I had a lot to prove in my life. I needed to first prove to my mom that ‘I got this’ secondly, I wanted to prove all the naysayers wrong. Was this a difficult task? YES indeed! With the support of my mom I was able to do it. I overcame everything that was meant to destroy me. Living life as a teen mom was one thing but being forced to marry and become a teen bride was entirely different and a choice I may have not made had I been given the decision to make on my own. I lived a few years as an abused teen mom/wife with TWO baby’s before the age of 21. It was the last time that I was beaten before someone (another man) actually asked me WHAT IS GOING ON??? I explained to him my life, started to confide in him and subsequently, he saved my life and the well-being of my two small children who were 2 and 3 at the time. 32 years later, we are a thriving couple with 2 adult sons, 1 adult woman, a dog, and some grandchildren.
Along the way I have learned to believe in myself and to NEVER give in to what society or family wants or expects of you. I’ve also learned to love and trust. I’ve learned that love does not hurt and that hurt does not last always.
I want women everywhere to know that no matter your past or your current circumstances, you CAN achieve whatever it is you want. Determination, faith, prayer and support will take you there.
My brand Everything Yoli is the perfect example of you can do ALL the things that you want to do! I’m living proof.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! I’m so new to Miami and there’s so many places that I, myself have yet to see. This would definitely be a fun time for the two of us.
I love food, people watching, shopping and a great cocktail. I’m not a ‘club’ type person so I would definitely head to IG 🤪 and find the cutest and most trending places to go. I like to dress cute and take lots of pics so needless to say, the venue must be either swanky or just plain ole cute. This is a great question and I’d like to turn the tables and ask the same of the readers. All suggestions accepted and will be posted via my IG. Lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate this shoutout to Femcity.
