Meet Yuval Monka | Event planner & designer, owner of Y Upscale Events

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yuval Monka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yuval, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest, and I know it sounds cliche, I always knew that I want to be a part of the event planning industry and open my own business. I thought about it for many years, I guess I waited for the right time or moment but I realised there is no right time. Instead of keep thinking I got in action and make the first step, I moved to Miami and step-by-step start to build my business and make this dream come true. It’s not easy to start something new by yourself but I didn’t let fear interfere any decision that I’m going to make in this journey.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an event planner and event designer. I own Y Upscale Events. When you have a special occasion coming and you invest your time, your effort and your money, you really want the best outcome. Your want your event to be remembered. But most of the people don’t realize The planning behind a perfect event and this is where I step in. You can call me you’re chill pill. My main goal is that the client will feel as a guest in his own event, with no worries and no stress. As a bride you celebrate your love, you definitely don’t need to deal with logistics, event timeline or even the catering company. You need someone that will do that for you through your eyes . We all experience Covid area that distance us from our family and friends. For me it’s so special and meaningful to design a birthday dinner party or holiday party, in those events we surround ourselves with our friends and family, that only a year ago we had to keep 6 feet from each other. I build my business with a lot of passion, but the way to success is not easy. From my first events i have learned so much! You can study at home about how to become an event planner but you get the most experience when you actually do it. The part of planning an event, work on a vision and design it’s the easy part for me. My challenge was to find the best way to advertise my business and get to the right audience, for that I took many classes in order to learn how to do it in the best way. I believe that your success really depend on your been consistency, unique and Authentic. You have to be willing to work hard, and never quit.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is the best place ever! I’m vegan for the past 6 years and Miami have an amazing vegan food! Mediterranean Taste you will get at ABBALE TLV KITCHEN, Sushi at Shīdo. The best vegan mac & cheese you will find at Love Life Cafe, and dinner will always be at Zuma, ask for the spicy fried tofu salad yumm! My absolutely favorite Miami drink will be lychee martini!
Best night out have to start on a rooftop with a view, Astra or Suger, and need to end in a night club , Space club or LIV.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so thankful for my amazing friends and family that been there for me every step of the way. I am blessed with very supportive circle. I will always be grateful for my best friend Nitzan, she is there for me from my very beginning. She been there from my first event, support, mentored and helped. It’s really enough that one person will believe in you and be there in the hard times and celebrate with you all in the good times
