Meet Yvona Gonzalez | Holistic Pole Fitness Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvona Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvona, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve been a dancer my whole life. My mother was a DJ/music producer so all I’ve known is music. When I was younger I would always put on shows for my family with a full choreographed dance and singing. My uncle is an artist and my brothers danced too, so it’s also nice being around an artistic family. I could never see myself doing anything else, but dance!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been dancing my whole life. Was on a competition team and then got my degree in choreography, where I was also part of a company and got to dance around the United States with amazing master artists. I always over exerted my body and had lots of overuse injuries. Tendinitis and plantar fasciitis in my feet, dislocated my hip and tore the rotator cuff in my shoulder. I also had lots of health concerns including chronic inflammation, as well as, cysts and tumors that started growing in my hips. That’s when I realized I had poor nutrition. I became a personal trainer and holistic nutritionist and it has completely changed my life around. I never wanted to feel like there was no hope. I did so much research and connected with other holistic experts and that’s when I knew I could heal. I learned that this journey is based off your mindset. If you want to complain and feel sorry for yourself you’ll never see anything get done. So instead of talking about what I want to do, I just do it. I speak a lot about affirmations and being your own cheerleader. My brand is focused on helping women feel their best selves. Mentally, physically and emotionally!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to lake Eola in downtown Orlando. First we would get brunch at the cafe Robinson. Have yummy fresh juice cocktails and amazing truffle fries! Then we would get ice cream at the greenery creamery and take a walk around the lake. Last we would finish off with one of my pole classes and have fun embracing our femininity. I think there are lots of amazing places downtown to check out that always have a great environment of people. I highly recommend trying a pole class anywhere you go if there’s a studio as well!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest inspiration and supporter is my mom. She always pushed me to follow my dreams and is the reason I love helping people. She has the biggest heart and is the most understanding person I know.
