We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Feinman and Megan Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacy Feinman and Megan Harris, what do you attribute your success to?
As the co-founders of The Tropical Agency, we were able to build a successful business by following this approach:

First is finding the right partner. When they say ‘opposites attract’, they are referring to Stacy and Megan. We have very different skill sets but complement each other perfectly. We also see the business world the same, which helps us be aligned on most big decisions we have to make for the agency.

Then comes passion. When you are passionate about something, you are more likely to enjoy the work that you do. Both of us came from a PR agency background and truly enjoy helping brands create buzz and excitement about their products. What made starting our own agency so special is that we were able to work with clients who created products we would actually be customers of, so we always believe in the brands we work with.

Next is creating a team of creative professionals who share the same vision. Like they say, ‘it takes a village’! By working with like-minded individuals, we are able to foster creativity and collaboration while getting amazing results with our client.

Lastly, by enjoying the people we work with. We have been able to attract awesome clients who share the same passion and vision we have. This has allowed us to build a loyal client base and establish a reputation for delivering high-quality work. We like to tell our clients, we don’t want to just be an agency you speak to twice a month, we want to also be your friends.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

At The Tropical Agency, we help innovative brands tell their stories and increase brand awareness because they’ve worked so hard on bringing their idea to life. We believe that PR — when done right — can lead to massive growth. What’s even more important, this type of organic growth is long-lasting because it’s built on an authentic connection with your audience.

Getting to where we are today was not easy. It took a lot of time, hard work and pivoting. Business is constantly changing. Even the way we did PR three years ago is different than how we do it today. It’s important to stay on top of trends and not be afraid to try new services and areas of expertise.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Miami is one of the greatest places to visit. What makes it so special is that there is so much culture and so many different “cities” within the big city. Stacy lives in Key Biscayne and Megan lives in Coconut Grove which, in our opinion, are two of the best places to check out when visiting Miami.

Since Key Biscayne is an island, being by the water is a must. Definitely take a walk over the Rickenbacker Causeway to check out the amazing views of the city. Also, make sure to go to the beach, there is Crandon Park, Bill Baggs State park or the beach by all of the apartment buildings on the island. Another thing that makes Key Biscayne so special is that you can drive around in a golf cart and even rent them by the day. Lastly, for an amazing sunset go to The Cleat for happy hour, it’s right on the water and you will feel like you are in a tropical paradise.

If you’re looking to spend a day in the lush, bohemian neighborhood of Coconut Grove, you could easily spend hours wandering along the water watching all of the sailboats in Biscayne Bay. There are a ton of eclectic boutiques to browse in the main area of town, plus a number of award-winning and Michelin-starred restaurants. If visiting with children a stop at Peacock Park’s playground is a must. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly in Coconut Grove it truly feels like ‘home’ even if you’re just passing through.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! We would like to shoutout our husbands, hello Lance and Colin. They have believed in us since the beginning. They actually encouraged us to quit our jobs and start our agency because they knew we would be successful if we put our minds to it. Plus, they want us to be happy. They also love to brainstorm business ideas and are our biggest cheerleaders. Without their support we wouldn’t have started The Tropical Agency.
