Meet Tara Benmeleh | Ceremonialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Benmeleh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tara, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Your career and business can evolve. I started my career in fashion from a very young age and it evolved from merchandising to apparel design, to personal shopping and styling to 11 years of a spiritual jewelry brand to now serving tea ceremony. My background in fashion definitely informs the aesthetic choices I make when setting up my Chaxi or “tea stage.” So, everything I have done definitely led me to where I am today and I loved every part of the journey but I love what I do now more than anything I ever have done.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I come from an art and design background but I am currently working in the healing arts. My past informs the aesthetics of my current space holding. I was doing visual merchandising for retail stores from a very young age but now I set the stage for tea and other rituals. with the understanding of details, I use this awareness to tend to energetic moments others may miss. I have learned to do less and find space and stillness. I was doing many different offerings and projects and I feel like simplifying is the key to making the offerings more powerful as well. i have learned that accepting help is not a weakness but a strength and a skill.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would check us into the Standard for the weekend and use the spa and pool facilities and the treatments are the best in town. I frequently make dates with my husband there and we get mani pedis and do yoga with Jaya or Sharon Aluma there and rest in the hammam. I love their new little cafe in the lobby.
A stroll around Vizcaya – and bring some snacks, tea and some drawing/writing tools as its so beautiful and inspiring.
I always sneak in a pilates private with Karen Schachter or a pilates class at the pilates place
a hot yoga class at mimi yoga
Mandolin Miami
Sushi Bar espanola way
Yasu Tanaki Sushi
Le Jardinier
a matcha and an acai bowl at Dior Cafe in Miami Design District
a visit to my good friend and artist Pepe Mar’s studio in little river

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out Sarah Rotterman @rottermind who is a psychologist and mindfulness educator who shared so much magic with me when I was a new mama which shaped so much of who I am and what I share today. I acknowledge her in my gratitude often but she deserves a big shout out because she is a true goddess and shares so much and is connected to the earth and the cosmos and the magic of womanhood all at the same time.
