Truth. Your ethical awareness is so often based on the value of your truth. It seems like a simple word, but it carries such weight. The dictionary defines ‘truth’ as more than just facts, in reality, it describes sincerity in action and character. Truth is a guiding principle that should be the north star for your compass because it will always guide you to make choices that respect your character. I was once asked during an event if I could pick one value or principle to live by what would it be? I still remember how quickly the word integrity flashed in my mind. Integrity is defined not just as the quality of being honest and having a strong moral compass, but alternatively it can also be used to describe a state of wholeness. When we are honest with ourselves and our needs we’re not only showing integrity for our own humanity, but we’re also making space in the world for others to know it’s safe to honor themselves as well.
