We asked some of the most creative folks we know to open up to us about why they chose a creative career path. Check out their responses below.

Rochell Ricketts | Dancehall Artiste / Entertainer

I grew up around music. From the days when I’d beat the desk in school to make beats and perform for my classmates, to performing in church and youth events. Something about the arts always bring people together. I’ve always dreamt of sharing my music with the world. I see myself as someone who can make a difference in the world by sharing my artistry and perspective. Read more>>

Fanni Sarkozy | Singing Pianist & Composer

I would say, music chose me as an instrument to be a channel to “broadcast” that eternal beauty, and harmony to people’s lives. I never thought the opposite way. Whenever I compose, I have this very certain feeling that I’m like an antenna, receiving information from somewhere, and through my hands and brain it starts to exist in the perceptible world, our 3D. Francoise Hazel | Artist & Product Designer

Growing up surrounded by the vibrant world of art, particularly through my mother’s talent as an artist, shaped my early years. It was either I do art, or I do nothing at all. I didn’t pursue art, it pursued me. Since I can remember. There’s a quote from one of my favorite books that I would like to share, and I believe it’s the perfect answer I’d choose for this question: Living life as an artist is a practice. You are either engaging in the practice or you’re not. “It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not. Read more>>

Mister Figg | Children’s Author

I have always had an interest in writing. It was just a matter of discovering which path in writing I would walk. Through years of going through various writing experiences, and educational and life growth moments, I was braought to my current path as a children’s author of mainly fantasy, adventure, and light sci-fi. It’s also added to a plce of happiness for me in ways that I honestly can’t decribe, but can only enjoy as I walk this path. Read more>>
