In the entrepreneur space most people will tell you that balance does not exist. I believe to some degree that is true because when you become dedicated to a goal or focus on your passion there is not much time to waste on things or people that are not getting you closer to the end goal. At first when I was building my business and striving to reach financial freedom there were many things that took a backseat including my family, which is why I hustle so hard in the first place. Work-life balance is truly one of my favorite topics because it is something I’m always working to improve. I opened YO BK in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2015. At the time, I was single and living alone, with all the time I needed to devote to a new business. I financed my first location on a shoestring budget, with small loans from friends and family, as well as money I had saved from bartending. I taught up to 18 classes a week and managed the studio. Work/life balance is always a tough thing to achieve. I think I only really started having a good balance in my life with everything on my plate when I REALLY prioritized. I used to have too many things I deemed “a priority” but that defeats the purpose! I have a full time job that I love, a side hustle (my Instagram/content creation), a partner, doggie daughters and a great friendship circle.
